Storage Settings - Multiple file storage locations will be deprecated in a future release.
Currently, I store my files for Downloads outsite webroot. Only these files, nothing else. This prevents direct linking to the file itself. As a user you always have to use the software to reach the files. Do you have any plans how the files are protected against direct linking or is this already implemented? Explanation: I bought your complete package in 2009 and somewhere it was suggested that for Downloads you should use a folder outside webroot to protect against direct linking. But please don't ask me where I read that here... 🙂

Well, the feature is not removed yet. Second, I constantly evaluate if the money is worth it or not. Currently, for me, it is. No doubt. So, if the future removal of this feature is critical for you start looking for alternatives. Start now, so you have a plan B if it comes into action, even if it's long away.

Nothing will happen when you upgrade from v4 to v5 regarding storage location. This is a deprecation warning for a future release. When, we don't know yet.

Database Navigation widget. Intended functionality?
I did. Nothing changed for me. All menus closed. Latest Firefox on MacOS.

Database Navigation widget. Intended functionality?
For me as a guest all are closed everytime. So if I click a record all categories are closed again. On desktop and phone.

Changing the location of followers in profile in beta 7 is not good
I'm sure @Ehren will come with a suitable solution for us. 🙂 As my style is default the s on the next line shouldn't happen.

Changing the location of followers in profile in beta 7 is not good
The phrase follower is off. Yes. Okay, I don't know how it was before. But it didn't change for me from 7 to 8. The dropdown opens in a nice menu and if I click on the box the followers open. So I can't see the weird display you showed in the first post.

We're in heaven with Beta 7!
Upgraded from 6 to 7, this time with PHP 8.2.26. No problem. Should we test 8.3 next time again?

Acp - Minimum content count to post' messengers option?
From my understanding there isn't. There is a workaround with group promotions. So you have a usergroup which isn't allowed to send any PM a day and promote them after x content items. Or you use Adriano's link.

Rules
Your first question: Yes, you can do that. I don’t know out of my head if it’s a default rule but if not you can add it in the ACP -> Members -> Achievements -> Rules.

Anyone else having trouble with Downloads file screenshots?
Hatsu replied to Adriano Faria's post in a topic in Invision Community 5: Beta Testing's Beta DiscussionAre the screenshots deleted or just not found? Perhaps the URL is messed up and/or a character set problem? I tried it on my dev site (upgraded from v4, no issues. PHP 8.3).

Here's Beta 6
Yes, you can do that. I did it. As no plugin, application or theme from v4 will work in v5 the only folders from your old installation you should care about are your uploads folders. If you have several different paths for uploads and/or for the application Downloads you have to keep them as well. And if anything goes wrong you still have your old installation as backup. Make sure you do a database backup as well before upgrading. So create a new directory, copy all v5 files into this directory and then copy all your uploads folders into this directory as well. If you have an external storage I have no experience with that. But then you should have all your uploads automatically, I guess.

You are using a custom login handler. This will be automatically disabled when upgrading to v5.
In ACP -> System -> Settings -> Login&Registration maybe? I myself have no experience with this.

Storage Settings - Multiple file storage locations will be deprecated in a future release.
Thank you. So I can't store my files from Downloads outside webroot anymore?

Did you try reuploading the files to your server?

Storage Settings - Multiple file storage locations will be deprecated in a future release.
In Invision Community 5 there is a deprecation hint. Multiple file storage locations will be deprecated in a future release. It is recommended that you start consolidating files to a central location. Currently, I have all in uploads but my files from Downloads. This directory is outside webroot. What does this hint exactly mean? Only, that the multiple options Advertisements, Attachments, Badges etc. are moved to one directory or does it mean that the files from Downloads have to be moved as well? This is currently not in your deprecation tracker.

Five Invision Community 5 features your members will love
Why is it so difficult to write in the respective paragraph describing the new feature in which packages this is available? I have no problem with that. I just want to skip parts which are not for me.
