Hi @k1ngzo,

I'm not throwing any shade to your opinion/s or feedback, but it does specify that it is a Cloud plan-only feature on both the blog post and topic (check the last line of each).

That's awesome, its more so just the principle.

Like the fact they will do this again and eventually yes the self hosted version will indeed become a different "tier"

It's the fact of the matter it was not clear this is a different version. They aren't done building and that is also once again awesome that is fine.
But they are not making it clear while still offering that package.

Before quests what features can you not use on self hosted but you can on the cloud?
Are those features listed in the plans?
Is quests?

What other features? What exactly did I buy? What exactly did I miss out on by switching to this "tier"???

IDK it's not clear.

A new customer by the way. Time after time again I am repeating this because everyone with any role here is ignoring half the message here.

Like why does it even feel like a punishment for being ABLE to host it on my own.

Sorry i'm not taking up space??

Just don't get it dawg. Hope it infuriates others.

I was just addressing your comment, "No where is it noted this feature is a cloud only feature." There is no deception on Invision Community's side. They do specify what plan any new and existing feature/s announced on blog posts and topics are available on.

I also don't think any of us can quantify the amount of customers Invision Community has, and more specifically what plans they use. My point is that only a small percentage of their customers use this forum for support or discussion. Hypothetically (and purely pulling numbers to make a point), if 25% of their customers engage on this forum and 5% of those customers express anger and frustration that a feature is not available for them, is that grounds to change their entire business model to support the minority of their clientele?

If this is as simple as "Invision Community, please differentiate between the Classic and Cloud plans on the pricing page to make it clear for customers to know the difference and what features are available in each", then by all means suggest that as feedback. I don't quite understand the perspective that some people have when it comes to the Classic versus Cloud debate which is continually addressed by the team.

Yes they are. On the pricing page.

Quests is listed under the Team plan, so it's a yes for your second question too.

Let's say you go for the Creator Pro plan. You will receive everything in the Creator plan, plus the extras listed on the Creator Pro plan. If you go for the Team plan, you'll receive all the features from the Creator and Creator Pro plan, plus those listed on the Team plan. And so on...

Invision Community is a business, not a charity; an organisation that provides goods and services to the community in exchange for money, with the goal of becoming profitable.

It has nothing to do with emotion or being punished, rather a business decision to continue being profitable.

We tried that like 20 years ago and people could not comprehend ioncube. People have enough trouble keeping MySQL running 😄

True, that is why self hosted is not for everyone. For me I will be happy to pay 500 per year instead of 200 for some extra features.

This is the attitude. Bro I probably bring in more money than half of your clients on a team plan and I KNOW i am willing to spend more money but look the stars are not aligning no more.

They actually do want to get rid of this "low cost" option, trust guys version 6 it will be gone lol

Matt mentioned that self-hosted accounts for only around 12% of sales, if I’m remembering correctly. It’s clear Invision doesn’t want to completely drop support for it—but it is a shrinking market. In a few years, that 12% could very well drop to 2%, or even lower.

Also, just a suggestion: it might be worth taking a moment to reflect on your own tone. It’s not helpful to call others out for behavior you’re also exhibiting yourself.

Not really trying to be helpful.

I'm leaving a bad taste just as they have left one with me. And honestly I hope everyone else that is in a similar boat can realize any of them can build a product and sit up on a high horse like these guys are trying to.

Let them remove my posts, it will be further proof. They should know someone spent money on their product and is this out raged

(its not like they would accept any real help in this area, i'm learning this is an ongoing conversation in this community lol)

What this really shows is that you didn’t do your research before buying. You spent money on something you ended up disappointed with—not because the product changed, but because you didn’t fully understand it from the start. And now, instead of taking accountability, you're venting publicly.

But here’s the truth: whatever point you think you're making against Invision, it's actually just working against you.

Do you act this way every time a company changes product lines or increases prices? It happens all the time, businesses have to change, adapt and pivot. It can be annoying if you've used a product some time that's being removed, changed or made more expensive but that's just the way it is. The alternative would be that more businesses just cease to exist, as if they don't change with the times, what chance do they have?
