Is there a possibility to have Gravatar and perhaps a preset default avatar in IC5?

Using Gravatar would no doubt require customisation/a plugin, but you can change between default profile photos in your AdminCP → Members → Member Settings → Profiles → Profile Settings → Photos

There are two options you can pick from.

1. Use the theme's default profile photo

2. Generate profile photos from first letter of the member's display name

As explained in that section too, you can upload a new default profile photo by managing resources for each theme.

I would be interested splitting the development costs with you if you want to hire a developer for this.

Could you possibly explain how I manage the resources? The list is empty and I’m unsure what to put there. 😅

Unfortunately not, I’m not looking to integrate an avatar gallery, but Gravatar. Which automatically grabs an avatar upon registering, the same one you have set on Gravatar. This is a very popular service.

@Cedric V I doubt IPS will implement Gravatar into IC5 in the future. It was actually available in the old 3.x version (or was it 2.x?), but it was removed at some point.

I realize this may not be in their interest to implement this in their core product. I'm not asking them to consider this. But I would be happy to fund this if a 3rd party developer has a reasonable price to do this. 🙂

If I recall correctly, it was removed in 4.2 or 4.3 release.

Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment. IPS must add an extension to implement new avatar options in the framework before a 3rd party developer can do anything. 🤷‍♂️

Sorry for being dim on this, but what exactly do you upload to resources? File format? Size? File name?

The confusion on this, is that currently you cant on version 5. Its something we have on our list though.
