Cancel your evening plans, because 5.0.12 Beta 1 has just been released!

It's almost time for pumpkin carving, heavily sweetened coffees and raking up leaves for months, but first our October release is ready for testing!

Along with a good number of bug fixes, we've squeezed in a major update on dropdown menus. I know that doesn't sound exciting but it means we can have native feeling menus when using a mobile device via the browser or PWA. It really does make it feel more app-like.

It's also a major technical change so please give all menus a good test, both on desktop and on mobile. Ehren and Matt spoke a lot about webcomponents and popovers. 🤷‍♂️

There is a slight hiccup when upgrading:

I've lost my images on Administrata such as logo, and uploaded images in theme resources.

Edit: reimported the theme fixed it, but it's a workaround, just so you know.

This would depend on whether the account has its own customised menu ordering preferences. It'll use the default ordering until you edit the layout (hamburger menu in the bottom left).

Beta 3 also contains some changes for Cloud customers, where they may see some errors saving files with Beta 2.

Updated to beta 3 on my test install, no errors.

You must have just known that we were working on releasing the final version!

We have released a patch to address the following:

• Editor issues with pressing return/enter after pasting a URL.

• The change log menu not working in Downloads.

• Auto-complete fields for tags are not being fully visible on Mobile.

You can apply this patch from your AdminCP on the support page. If you do not see any patches available, that means you already have the latest version.

Had a hiccup when upgrading from 5.0.11 -> 5.0.12

SQL query: Copy ALTER TABLE ibf_core_members ADD( KEY photo_type (pp_photo_type,pp_main_photo(250)) ); MySQL said: Documentation #1071 - Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes

Had to change from 250 > 100 to accept and continue installation and run the command in PHPmyAdmin.
