steve00 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Am just starting to get to use Pages database and am trying to get an image (as per screenie) Have created a database and added a field (logo) and set it to only upload images (as can see it works) The only way I could find of getting image to upload is by using the 'Label: value' (with all the different color backgrounds) and changing css size values for that badge/img style) but am wondering if there is a much easier way or if that is the correct way of doing it Any advice appreciated
opentype Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 What’s the purpose of these images in the database? If it’s supposed to be the main article image, you would just turn on the stock field “Record image” and upload your images there. Their layout will already be defined.

Purpose it so members can upload their logo's and add their comments etc ... take it not a good idea ?
-FP Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 You would need to manually add the custom field to the template to insert the image if you want to further customize it. (Like display it in another position instead of in the default spot for custom fields)

(Like display it in another position instead of in the default spot for custom fields) unfortunately do not really want to mess with templates (plus couldn't seem to find the right template), the position where it is in screenshot is acceptable but that was the only way I could get an image to show by using the 'Label: value' field no other option would show an image but that again is not a problem as unlikely would use that particular 'label: value' field again for anything else

Might also add screenshots (not decided on that yet) and record image field is enabled but when tried that image didn't look that good (too small) also notice the following error, can someone tell me what that is about as thought could create as many categories as I want
opentype Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 It’s not an error. It’s an explanation of why you currently can’t switch that toggle to “no categories”. Seems to confuse everyone.

Tried your way and used the record image and found that does work better (with template and css changes but cannot have everything can you) Thanks for the tip
steve00 Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 Can someone please advise what the bottom 'block' is for (it states '3 records in this category' but then states 'no records to show' ... isn't that kind of contradicting itself) ? or is there a setting somewhere to remove it ?
opentype Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Yeah. Those 3 records are somewhere BELOW the parent level of the one you are in. In your case, they are in the another sub-category though. You can avoid this confusion by turning off “show records” for such empty sub-categories like the one you show in the screenshot. Mixing entries and sub-categories can always cause confusion. I also never do that in forums, where it is possible as well.

Thank you again, looks much better without that block (not sure what mean by mixing entries and sub categories though as all am doing is creating sub category and posting in it)

Or some are purely containers; you can't add posts to them. In Pages you can choose whether a category can have records posted directly to it. If you do but there aren't any records, you get the message about "there are no posts to show". If you're not going to post records to it, you should set it up so that you can't post directly to the category. You'll still be able to post to your subcategories.
