  1. I just want to add that I'm having this same problem, and it would be very helpful to have a resolution as soon as reasonably possible. Thank you in advance.
  2. Perfect, that's what I needed. Thank you!
  3. I have a very specific line of text that I want to be a different color. It's wrapped in a span and has a unique class. I added the appropriate CSS to the Custom CSS area in the theme editor. Everything works great. However, it looks terrible in dark mode. Using CSS, how can I give a different color for dark mode? I inspected the page but didn't see a different CSS selector for dark mode. This is the basic CSS I'm using span.class { color: red; }

  5. I have banned members but their profiles are still visible to everyone. This is a problem because they may have filled out all the profile fields with their spammy links. I can't figure out a way to hide the profiles of banned members, and I don't want to manually scrub each profile. I feel like there is a solution but I don't know what it is. What does everyone else do?
  6.    Moestuin reacted to a post in a topic: Excluding a tag from search
  7. I would be helpful if I could do a search and pick a tag to be excluded from the results. I'm embracing the new tag system and I'm doing a lot of searches looking for content to be tagged. Excluding items that already have the tag would make the process much faster.
  8.    AHartline reacted to a post in a topic: Canonical Tags
  9. I don't completely agree with that. If you don't have a canonical tag, Google will try to determine if another page with similar content is a more authoritative version. Example: You place a gallery feed widget on your home page. Google then looks at your /gallery/ page and sees very similar content on your home page and decides the home page is authoritative. Because of this, your /gallery/ page isn't indexed. Or what about /gallery/ vs /gallery (no trailing slash)? The GSC lists canonical data for every page, indicating that this is an important factor in their algorithm. This is for my /gallery/ page: I'm not claiming to have problems because a few pages don't have this tag. I also understand that Google can ignore it and choose a different page. But it is considered best practice, and Google recommends that all pages have a canonical tag.
  10. To your preferred URL, of course. Canonical tags are considered best practice, even if no other version of that page exists. And since almost all other pages contain a canonical reference, I think it just makes sense to include these.
  11. I noticed some pages don't have canonical tags. For example: /gallery/ /files/ /privacy/ /guidelines/ /contact/ /blog/ I'm sure there are others. I suggest adding canonical tags for those pages.

  13. I'd like to request an enhancement to the tagged content widget. If the widget is on a forum topic page, it should dynamically display the same tags as the topic (if any). So if the topic is tagged with #bluewidgets, then the widget should show other content tagged with #bluewidgets. If a different topic is tagged with #redwidgets, it should dynamically show other content tagged with #redwidgets. I think this would help our users find similar content and increase the amount of time they spend on the forums.
  14. I don't see tag pages in the sitemap. I was expecting to see something like "https://mydomain.com/sitemap.php?file=sitemap_tags_1" in the root sitemap, but it wasn't there. I suggest adding them.
  15. I read through all the release notes before I realized the provided link takes you to the 5.0.10 notes, lol.
  16. I like this post, I've already made some adjustments based on the suggestions. There is one issue. One of the screenshots recommends that users "Follow tags that match your interests". That is a great idea, but we don't have a way to direct users on how to actually do that. They might stumble upon a tag and figure out how to follow it, but we need a better way. We need a /tags/ index page that lists all tags with links to follow each one. Also, we need a profile completion step designed just for following tags.
  17. I agree, archived topics missing from internal search is a problem. I think it would be better if the titles of archived topics could still be searched, if not the whole body. By omitting topics, the best way to search is to go to google. Also, the archive settings page in the ACP says "When your community reaches a certain size, archiving of older topics will be required." It seems like the archiving function hasn't been fully thought out yet and its too soon to start requiring it. I hope there are enhancements coming down the pipe.
  18. I have one major complaint and several suggestions about archiving. The complaint is that archived posts no longer contribute to the post counts listed on the main forum page. So if you archive 15+ years of really old posts, it makes your forums look much less active than they actually are. That might seem like a silly complaint, but those post counts are a big part of the first impression made to potential new members and sponsors. I want to see those numbers go up, not down. Other Suggestions: Make it so we can archive an entire forum, regardless of when the contents were posted. Sometimes a forum needs to be retired, or it was temporary to begin with. Right now, we handle this by changing permissions. That works, but telling a member they don't have permission to post in a forum sends a different message than telling them it has been archived. Archiving seems like it could be a more appropriate solution. Create options for archiving to also resize images. For current posts, I don't like to have a size limit on my image uploads. It's 2025, I should be able to zoom into nose hairs if I want to. However, after a post is old and archived, I don't mind if the original image and thumbnails get resized to save space and bandwidth. If archiving were to resize images, it would make sense to be able to archive image galleries also. Remove the 'Reply to this topic' button at the top of archived topics. The button does nothing when you click on it. Also, remove the Quote and MultiQuote links. These should probably be considered a bug. Thanks Chirs
