IPS5 guides and documentation

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I just upgraded to v5 and I am anxious to start rebuilding my site with all these fancy new tools. I've never really did much with pages and block before and I am struggling with how to get started. I am sure I can figure it out with a little direction. Where can I find documentation on databases, templates, pages, blocks? Are there any tutorials available?

Thanks a bunch!

The underlying framework for Pages hasn’t changed, so you can still go with the tutorials from 2015 to learn Pages.

There are just a few functional changes between Pages in 4.x and 5.x as explained here. What has changed significantly is the layout options for the data. That’s all explained and shown here: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/invision-community/invision-community-5-page-builder-r1304/

Ahh! Ok, great! This is very helpful. Thank you! I thought maybe it was different for v5. I am excited to get started. :)

Thank you! I followed your steps here: https://opentype.space/support/support/upgrading-to-5x-with-any-of-my-products-r35/ to reset the Pages Database templates. I managed to get the listing looking right, but I cannot access the individual articles. I am getting the error below. Can you point me in the right direction?

Check again that the display template for the database (and all categories) is reset. It should look like:

Bildschirmfoto 2025-05-27 um 06.14.08.png

That’s the most likely problem. But it could also be a customized IPS template or widgets with issues. IPS would need to investigate this.

I went through all templates and set them to Display. Same error.

Your display template is modified, so I have created a new database template set there called "newdisplay" and set it to that. Please check now

Thanks for all the help everyone!

Is there a way to update my old Articles page?

https://www.clausnet.com/articles/

Or do I just create a new Articles page and attach the database that contain the articles?

It looks to be an issue with your CSS there, so I suspect even if you put it on another page, you will have display issues. You would need to adjust your theme to suit
