I got multiple notifications (6x) that a post needs approval, however, I can't see that post.

Where would I see posts to be approved?

You would want to ensure you're logged in as a moderator which has access in order to do so if you are clicking the link in the email notification. As an administrator, we recommend giving yourself unrestricted moderator permissions.

However, you can also go to Mod CP -> Approval Queue.

As far as I know, I already have all the permission. Maybe there are additional places to see/check that?

Can you clarify where to find that? I am still unsure where it is.

Yes, you'll want to go to ACP -> Members -> Staff -> Moderators.

It's on the front-end -> click your name in the top right -> Moderator CP

I must be missing something basic.

When I go to ACP -> Members -> Staff -> Moderators I see this:

image.thumb.png.f0dda6f11860291b42a180abf2fe891f.png

That leads me to believe that I am not an admin nor a moderator, yet, on the front end, I can see this on any thread/post:

image.png.b9c5535c9daeea11c2625e00a7faba1e.png

Which I thought was limited to moderators.

And on the front end, I don't see a Moderator CP:

Again, maybe I am mistunderstanding something.

The ModeratorCP entry should be right above the AdminCP one. 🤨

Maybe you have the Moderator CP module disabled inside the System (core) application? That's the only thing I can think of that would hide the link despite your permissions being set correctly:

Do I need a ModeratorCP? Shouldn't the Admin be able to do all those tasks? I am the only one with any "moderation" permission as the admin. I am the only admin too. Shouldn't the admin be able to allow posts that require approval?

Yes, you need it. Several functions are available only there (approval queue, announcements, deleted content, alerts, etc).

That is more confusing.

I am an admin. I can add, delete, and move posts. Do I still have to add myself as an admin?

And then, I would also have to add myself as a moderator?

You're confusing things:

  • Administrators can do things in ACP.
  • Moderators can do things on the front end (and use the ModCP if they have access to it)

Based on your screenshots above you setup the Administrator group as a moderator (for the front end), but the ModeratorCP is not showing up for some reason.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to tell what the issue is without more information. 🤷‍♂️

What kind of information would be needed?

I am trying to follow the instructions in the document referred to earlier and it does not seem to help.

I have had my forum for 2 years now. I am able to do some "moderation" tasks, so I never knew of any difference. It is only this recent "post needs approval" (and I have no idea why it does that as the poster is a regular one) that brings up this question.

The moderator is unrestricted, so the permissions are not the problem. I've already mentioned in my previous reply about checking if the module is disabled.

P.S.: Just to double-check, the account in your screenshot (Cassel) is in either the Administrators or Moderators group. Correct?

I thought it was an administrator:

Yeah, that looks correct.

So, do I need to add myself as a moderator ALSO?

Yes and when you do you will have access to the Moderator CP 🙂

That's not necesessary. As an admin you should have access to your ModeratorCP.

But as you can see, even though I am an administrator and have access to the AdminCP, I don't have the ModeratorCP AND it seems I don't have some permissions I need.

I still have no clue where I can approve of a post I got a notification for.

Did you check what @teraßyte adviced above?

If you try to load the link to the approval section in the ModeratorCP, what do you see? You can do that by adding the following at the end of your forum url. /modcp/approval-queue/

I am sorry but I don't understand.

When I click on the link I got in the notification, it only directs me to the thread where the post is, not the post itself.

And I don't understand how to load the link in the approval section in the ModeratorCP since I don't have a ModeratorCP.

I am probably missing something basic.

What I meant was to load the direct link to the approval section in the ModeratorCP. That should tell you if the section in question has been disabled inside the System application as mentioned above by teraByte, or if it is enabled, but you can't access it. i.e. that will tell us more about the situation. And then we can go from there.

I might sound thick, but I don't know what you mean. What direct link? and where is the approval section since I don't have a ModeratorCP?

You need to add text to your forum's URL. For example, if your site URL is:

https://www.domain.com/forums/

Type this URL in your browser's address bar:

https://www.domain.com/forums/modcp/approval-queue/

If it is:

https://www.domain.com/

then type:

https://www.domain.com/modcp/approval-queue/

Etc.

Please see the reply above. After you load the direct url to the approval section let us know what you see.

This is what I used:

https://scrapbookcampus.com/invision/forums/modcp/approval-queue/

And I get

Sorry!

The page you requested does not exist
And yes, I installed the forum in the "invision" folder since it includes both the forum and the gallery.
