Adding another note-

If I edit ANY of the previous articles that I used the embed code for my videos - they are removed. Sigh. This is becoming a large issue with me as these are course videos and are needed. I seriously don't have the time to go back to every single one of these articles, find the video and edit the code so they click to go off site to watch. This is NOT user friendly at all. They should be able to watch on site.

Not sure what to do about ALL these embedded videos..... would really like to have this settled. Is there a support ticket that I can submit? I've been struggling with this for far too long.

Hi @Rebecca Jorgensen

Did you check out the app I suggested earlier in this topic? It might be worth a conversation with the developer.

If it is a Youtube video, just post the link (not the embed code) and v5 will embed it for you.

It's really not, to be honest. Seriously, this weird "unmarked white space that exists but doesn't really unless you click it" idea is a nonsense - both in usability terms and in WYSIWYG standards. If

For example, I add a class to an embedded YouTube video to center it. The embedded block does not respond to the centering buttons from editor.

I just did this - https://b337213.invisionservice.com/

again- not working. I have added the allowed embed into the posting authorized in admin area.

Dropped the link into the page - preview shows, it goes away when saved.

Are you trying the replication with Bunny.net hosting for videos? The application works for all the other videos (youtube, vimeo) but it does not for bunny hosting.

Yes, I used your actual link provided. Please give me a link to exactly where on the test site you checked, and also give me the exact URL used

Editing previous item created with HTML will reparse them, yes.

I've looked at a few of the embed apps- but they require the full thing to be in html. I don't want to have that. I just want to have access to drop an html embed code like the prior version allowed. I can't use it in a block because then it shows on ALL article pages.

At first look, this doesn't show how it's actually embedded - does this add an option on the text editing menu?

I don't know, @Rebecca Jorgensen. I just thought it would be worth you exploring. Tagging the developer, @ClawOfWinterfell. Claw is very helpful.

Also give me exactly what you added to the link window. It has embedded there. Just not as a clickable video

The catch is that Bunny doesn't support oEmbed. If you paste a Bunny link on its own line, v5 just turns it into a preview card that sends everyone off-site, which is what you're seeing on the test board. To actually get the video player inside the post, you need to use Bunny's embed code, which is basically just an iframe.

In v4 you could paste that through HTML mode. v5 doesn't have HTML mode anymore, but it does have support for custom iframes. There are two things that need to be enabled for that to work: the Bunny player domain has to be added to the allow list under Posting > Embeds, and the group needs the "Can Convert Links to iframes" editor permission.

That permission is set to Never by default for every group, including admins, so it's very easy to miss. If either of those settings isn't enabled, the iframe gets stripped out when the content is saved.

That's also why some of the older articles lost their videos after being edited: the content gets parsed again on save and the iframe doesn't survive it.

Even with both enabled, there isn't really any styling applied to a raw iframe. The Bunny player can end up tiny or mess with the layout, which is probably why quite a few of the newer posts ended up using a screenshot that simply linked through to Bunny instead.

I built Rebecca a small app that takes care of all of that. It enables the required settings, makes the iframe permission follow the normal external embed permission, keeps Bunny players properly full width on both desktop and mobile, and runs a one-time conversion over posts, articles and comments to restore the old v4 embeds and turn the screenshot links back into actual players.

So now you can paste the Bunny embed code straight into the editor and it works pretty much the same way it did in v4.

This is not the problem, Older articles lose it because its reparsed, the same as anything else would be reparsed. Even adding it as am embed location in the admin CP would not fix that.

The issue itself Rebecca, is that you are adding the allowed pattern incorrectly

image.png

You have no wildcards are shown in the description there. So you are allowing only those exact URLS. You would need to add something like

*player.mediadelivery.net/play/*

You also have in editor permissions this set to never. So nobody can embed anything from those settings

image.png

This in turn means you cant have been adding links as you need to with custom embeds. You must click the link icon, add the URL, and if its an allowed embed you will get the embed icon shown below

This has indeed be added here, as you can see

Bunny doesn't support oEmbed

WHY?? wasn't this mentioned from the first time I said- my embed isn't working any longer and I use Bunny.net for hosting videos?

I know that you removed the ability to use html even for admins (which is crazy town) - but even dropping the link for the video wouldn't work because.... see above - bunny doesn't support oembed.

And yes, we can see the fix - but the box is NOT responsive at all and is tiny and seriously looks dumb to be honest.

Cedric has been super helpful and the embeds look just like they did before. Because of the reparcing every video was messed up.

With my app, you just drop links, but Facebook videos/content aren’t previewed. It renders the link on posting; you do not need to know the HTML. Just the link.
