Who's Online

Featured Replies

Many times, the Who's Online block will show no one online, stating that, There are no members online. However, if you click into the See full list function, you will see that indeed there are peeps online. While not critical, it would be nice to see this ironed out.

Thank you.

As it is a block, its cached the same as any other block. When you click, you are seeing the full page which is not cached

Yeah, I don't know. I can be seeing it and there are members being shown on it's face, go to another page and all of a sudden noone is online. Click into it and there are still peeps online so I'm not sure how caching would come into play here.

The block is cached and the online page is not cached so when you're on the online page, you will get a more accurate reading of who is online. The block is dependent on caching properties of the block and page.

Is it just me that doesn't think this is the right behavior? I mean, the block is entitled, Who's Online. Shouldn't it accurately show, who's online without having to tap into the (See full list) aspect?

Thanks.

It was never meant to be a real-time view into who is online as the technology behind it would be too slow and cause your community to be sluggish. That is why we developed the Live Engagement features to see who is viewing the topic and replying. Alternatively, you can click the full list to see real-time.

Just piggy backing on this topic @Jim M , is there anyway to hide the "Who's online" list completely?

It doesn't show on our mobile version, but as we have hundreds of users online it takes up a lot of the page online.

There is an option to see the "Full list"

I guess if the list could be collapsed and only viewed if someone clicks on expand button it could help - maybe even just for admin

Are you referring to removing the block? If so, you would do this by opening the page manager (click on your name in the top right) and just click the x to remove the block.

Brilliant - Thank you, found what I was looking for and more
