Ver 5 - How to customize the output of a database Grid View

Featured Replies

I would like to simplify the grid output of records and the category grid view.

Is there a template you alter or do you override things with css?

Two examples

1. The Category Grid view... adds in the first article title and article count. I want to delete both of those and take back that empty space.

  1. Grid view of the records eliminate the teaser, views, and possibly add the output of a custom field, again take back that empty space.

There is no “grid template“. You would have to add a custom template, and then set it to grid mode in the template itself. I don’t really recommend it unless you really know what you are doing there.

Custom fields can just be shown be activating them for the listing view in the field settings. No code changes necessary.

To just hide content, which I also do a lot for these views, add a CSS file and activate it for the specific page with the grid view. Then you can pick what you want to hide through the CSS classes.

Thanks!

I guess what I am trying to figure out is the underlying how for what. CSS vs template vs theme ect...

I'll have a go at that.
