Posts Going Missing

Featured Replies

The other day I had a member report that one of his posts has gone missing. And now one of my posts as well as a response to it from another member have gone missing.

However, if I go into my list of posts and his list of posts I can see both posts, as shown below. But if you click on the link to either of those posts it takes you somewhere else.

On top of that, a few minutes later more posts in that same thread are missing. Those posts were immediately ahead of my post that disappeared. The last one on that page in that thread is here.

I should add that this is a very very long thread and the posts that disappeared were on Page 1035, so maybe that has something to do with it. And the posts started going away at the bottom of the page and the page has gradually gotten shorter over night. But the following page, where we are discussing the disappearances, seems intact.

HELP!

Rebuild search index and clear system cache. If the problem persists, something else may require more attention.

I believe there is a patch available to resolve this issue. Check under support in your acp.

@Cedric V & @Dll: We are on the Invision cloud. Is this something we need to be doing?

And, the posts are now back, albeit on a different page in the thread. The posts are in the right order, but the page break is in a different place. I'm confused.

Have a look at this post and try the suggestion mentioned there. If that won't help then maybe it would be better if you started a ticket about this at your Client Area so one of the Ips Staff can look into this for you.

@Miss_B Thanks, but that's beyond my ken. I'll ask my technical guru to do that.

That's a very easy/simple thing to do, but I understand your reluctance. Anyways, hopefully the issue will be solved after your tech guy runs the patch. Let us know how it will go.

Well, @Miss_B, you were right - it was easy to apply the patch. And that appears to have fixed that really long thread. All the posts seem to be where they are supposed to be. Thanks!

Glad to see that the issue has been fixed.

We've been running into this problem with Version 4.7.22 (current) of the cloud system for a week or so. It is showing itself in a 4500+ page thread (and no, that's not a typo). Sometimes the posts come back, sometimes (we suspect) they do not.

Given that the self-hosted version experienced this same problem at the same time we experienced it, and that required a patch, it doesn't seem like clearing our cache will do much good. Is there a patch coming for the cloud based system?

Patches are not system independent when an issue like this is in the core software code which is on both. Only time a Cloud-only patch is issued is if it is a cloud-only feature. You can see patches in ACP -> Support.

I'm on the Invision cloud and when I applied the patch the posts appear to have come back.

Cool. When I checked earlier today I could have sworn the option to patch wasn't available. I now see it available and have applied it.

Thanks!
