Have set it to 90 days, but nothing gets pruned.

Have a look at one of the administrators.

Your maintenance tasks are not running due to too low of traffic. You would want to enable CRON if you do not have a lot of traffic and wish for these tasks to execute in the background.

Forum Index page has 7494 views last 7 days, isn't this enough to keep tasks running?

That’s a pretty low amount of traffic. Remember there are a lot of other tasks that need to run as well. Cron is really a much better way of ensuring regular tasks are run.

For context, the task runs every minute. Over 7 days, there are 10,080 minutes. So that would not be enough, even if they happen to be all running at separate minutes of the day

As far as I can tell not a single IP address on the forum has been pruned.
When a task is started, wouldn't it run until all concerned IP's are deleted?

Have a look at one of our administrators. They have IP's dating back 20 years..

In the first instance, please upgrade to the latest release of the platform and then run the task again. If they are then still showing, I can get this escalated for you

Upgrade done and pruneipaddresses task run, but problem is the same.

I have created a ticket on this for you, so we can take a closer look

We did set "remove IP addresses from user posted content after the specified number of day" to 90 days back then, but IP's are still are being kept beyond that.
