4.5: Private staff notes

Managing a community as a team makes internal communication an essential part of its successful management.

There are times where you want to leave notes for other staff on specific topics that you're watching. Perhaps a member is close to breaking the rules, or it might be that you want to keep the topic focused and on point so wish to split off-topic posts into a different area.

Whatever the reason, Invision Community 4.5 adds the ability to leave private staff notes on topics.

For some time, Invision Community has had the ability for staff to leave public notes. Now, in 4.5, staff can choose between public and private notes.

This change was made based on customer feedback, so thank you! We do read and listen to all the feedback you leave.

Topics are the most important thing I guess. But adding staff notes to members profiles would be great too.

Great job Ips. I am very exited for the final release. It is truly number 1 in the forum world.

Looking forward to the 4.5 release and this is just another great feature for it.
I'll probably wait until 4.5 is out and then consider adding more marketplace apps/plugins if necessary.

I feel like staff notes (without having to issue a warning/member note) would be more useful to have on profiles. So I hope that's possible too.

Using the Member Note in the Warning system without assigning any points or actions is really the same thing. In that case it's just a note.

Yes! I need the Member Note on the profiles.

Unless I'm missing some extra configuration options, it's not the same. (Which is why I wrote: "(without having to issue a warning/member note)" in my last post).

The member still has to acknowledge and is notified about it. As well as it being added as something the member is aware of in their own warn log.

These notes are also does not appear "in your face" for staff, as displayed with these staff notes in topics.

It has! 😳 How did I miss this?!

Go to any topic > moderator actions > at the bottom is 'add message'. 🙂

How about staff notes, private or not, inbetween topic posts?

You can do this with the 'Hide' toggle available in the reply box 🙂

That's an indirect way.

Also assuming that I want to add a note inbetween already posted posts I can't.
I guess an extra option in each posts' Options would do the trick "Add staff notes above/below" or similar.
