Our take on managing successful online communities

Happy 16th Birthday To Us!

This month, we turn sweet sixteen!

We made our own card this year.

I know, it's hard to believe with our youthful looks and energetic personalities, but it's true. Charles and I have known each other longer than I've known my own children and we still make each other laugh on a daily basis.

Over the past 16 years we've seen a lot of trends come and go.

When we started, AOL dial-up was the preferred method of choice (and probably the only method of choice). Compuserve were flying high and I think I'll stop this walk down memory lane before I turn into my own grandfather and start talking about how things were better in my day.

A lot has changed. We've seen the rise of social media and how it disrupted habits. We've seen MP3 players become iPods, and iPods become iPhones and iPhones become iPads (other digital devices are also available).

It's crazy to think that our company pre-dates Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.

We're still here because we are always innovating and adapting. The software we're working on right now is vastly different from the one we started out with. And that is how it should be. We listen to our customers and we implement the great ideas.

Of course, we'd not have lasted a year without our customers. We're genuinely thrilled to still be doing a job we love and serving customers who have trusted their community with us.

Thank you all for choosing us and we're looking forward to the next 16 years.

Congratulations Team IPS! You've had a big influence on my life and that of my various community members since the days of Ikonboard.

Imagine what your software will look like and feature in 16 years time when you will be announcing V8.2.

"When is the release date?"

"When it's ready, youngster. When it's ready."

:)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I still remeber this AOL- and CompuServe-Clientprograms (To be honest... I never liked the AOL-Client, but CIM (CompuServe Information Manager)... It was just hard to remeber all the Compuserve-IDs 0972341ß985713245,9082734  :hyper:

I run a lot of different softwares over the years... UBB (1998), vB, UltraBoard, YaBB, IkonBoard, Woltlab, xF and Invision... all of them had come and goes, dramas, Companychanges, etc.... That said, the most of my websites now running IPS

FunFact: A few days ago, i thought about the future.. I am 44 years old and thought:, i will run some of my websites, when i retire... Second thought: Ouh, how old is @Matt? Will there be IPS ?

GUYS: KEEP IN MIND: I WANT TO USE IPS WHEN I RETIRE... IN 20 YEARS (or so)... DON'T EVEN THINK OF STOPPING THE WORK ON IPS :)

That said: Thanks for all your work

I am actually surprised it's not more years because later this year will be 13 of me using it and I am usually late to start using software. lol.

I still feel that it's easily the best forum software and always getting better, btw.

Still Innovating Communities for 16 years straight. I have been a customer off and on quite a bit and seen it grow. I think I remember getting IPS License around oh 3.x era, before that I was using phpBB>SMF>MyBB>vB> than finally you guys. xenForo was pretty interesting, just wasn't my taste. You guys are always a step ahead of the game in my honest opinion.

16 Years! - In this time many others like AOL have come and gone. Well, we will be here to see you at the next 16!.

@Matt 42? Well in 16 that will be the year of 2034 you will only be 58... I will be 77 younger. By that time we will be playing with the hologram  version 12.3.

Playing with IPB since 2003 with the cpanel free versions customer since 2005. I guess I hav a few days into this. Well see you in the next!

Well @Matt,

Don't worry. One day after you hit the 60 mark you will be saying my mind's eye says I am still 30!

There's therapy for this, right?

Happy Birthday and Congratulations! :sorcerer:

We hit 15 years on IPS last October but been going 3 or 4 years prior to that on, I believe, Ikonboard. According to Matt's recent podcast, we must also have been early adopters of that too. I wasn't on the forum at that time but I hope Matt doesn't think we're stalking him.

Looking forward to another 16 and more years of great products and first class support.

Glen
