Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
sam brads Posted July 17 Posted July 17 I have a problem with a user that is abusive and keeps coming back is there anyway to get more details from the ip address to stop him from re joining apart from keep deleting each account as they re joins I have tried to get email address ip but it is done via gmail so only shows gmail data centre Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
Marc Posted July 17 Posted July 17 There is no other IP information we can provide, other than what is already provided on the user in the admin CP when you look at that member. You cant get IP information back from emails etc. It would be a case of keep banning them, essentially until they get bored. If someone wants to join when they are banned, and has the knowhow to do so, there is little you can really do to stop them (bar closing registrations of course. People can change IP address (using VPN for example), set up different email addresses and the likes to get around these things. In my experience, the best course of action is simply to keep banning them, and nothing else. No interaction etc. The more interaction the longer it will take for them to get bored of it
sam brads Posted July 17 Author Posted July 17 Thank you i did think as much but thought there might be something well hoping will just keep banning them til they are bored
