Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted December 22, 200915 yr So, where do I install the upload folder from the zip file? Somewhere in the ACP or via FTP? After I do that, how do I get it running? Please help, instructions are really vague and I have no idea what to do. Thanks.
December 22, 200915 yr You must upload the contents of the "upload" folder to your forum root (so admin folder will "overwrite" existing admin folder, etc.). Then you go to your ACP, Manage Applications, and install the chat.
December 22, 200915 yr Author So there is only one upload folder on FTP and nothing will happen if I overwrite it right?
December 22, 200915 yr You won't overwrite the upload folder. You need to take the contents from the upload folder of the IP.Chat download (which will be folders admin, public and interface as I recall) and upload those to your forum installation. Your FTP program may prompt you that you will overwrite files/folders, or it may not, because you won't actually be overwriting anything. You just want the contents of the public folder to be in the public folder on your server (same with admin and interface folder).
December 23, 200915 yr Author It's giving me this error when I open the chat now: Site ID does not exist on the chat server.
December 24, 200915 yr You need to input a key to activate the chat. In your Invision Power client area go to Your Purchases > IP Chat and associate your IP.Board with the chat service to get your key. Copy this and navigate to the IP.Chat app in your IP.Board ACP where it should ask you for the key code. Paste and away you go. :)
December 24, 200915 yr I'm not seeing an input area for Chat room server in either My apps > IP Chat settings or manage apps and modules > edit applications settings...chat services. Is this IP Chat or Addonchat or Parachat?

You use FTP to upload them to the server your IPB installation is on. If you are uncomfortable doing this, you should probably submit a ticket for assistance.
