It would come in extremely handy to limit attachment viewing per user group. I don't want guests viewing (hotlinking) attachments by bypassing the images and going through the index.php?act=Attach method.

I agree, but I thought this was already a feature? Also it shouldn't be a group setting, but should be hardcoded by default to not allow guests to view attachments.
