Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted November 10, 200420 yr I was thinking, instead of all the quoting in PMs, it would be really nice if the PM feature would show like a topic did, with replies on pages, and not a new message each time. Maybe an admin setting could set how many messages were allowed per PM? I don't know, just a thought, it'd be a very nice addition :)
November 10, 200420 yr I really like that idea. :) I mean it wouldnt take Matt long to figure out how to do it. Plus its easier to keep track of who pm'd what. Also if you dont know what he is talking about its almost exactly like gmail is. How they fold down when you get a new post in a email. :)
November 10, 200420 yr I wasn't thinking like GMail, I was thinking exactly liek topic view, well not exactly, but it'd be like a private topic beetween two people, maybe more?
November 10, 200420 yr I'm for this idea. I'm sure a new flag would have to be made that would keep like some sort of topic "key" instead of basing it on who from/to and topic name (much like topic #).. But that would definitely be cool, could cut down on quoting and save space.
November 13, 200420 yr I agree. I suggested this months ago, and everyone liked it, but the topic died.

November 14, 200420 yr Any opinions from IPS Staff? This is a much wanted feature, please the people! :D XD
November 14, 200420 yr What's the difference!? The fact that the posts collapse?! The topic-like view is the way to go.
November 15, 200420 yr Collapseable would be nice, have them all collapsed except for the last one, and all those collapsed ones could alternate colors based on if the member is the sender or the receiver. (ie, dark blue for incoming, light blue for sent) and have the date, arrow (for opening/closing), and names so it's easeir to see the order, which would be useful if there is a conversation that spans, say, 20+ messages.
November 15, 200420 yr I talked to Matt about this a while ago and proposed the idea over AIM. It was something he'd been thinking about for a while. What's more, the database structure has changed to allow it now (there are two tables for PMs: topics and text), so I imagine this is coming :)

What help is that? And why do you not want topics like that too? November 25, 200420 yr See what I started keith... lol gmail ha! lol nah either way I hope this gets put into play. I remeber reading that Matt was one of the first to start putting PM systems in as a mandatory thing, if he upgrades it will be a new era of PM'ing. sorta, lol.
