Robnhood Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 I have had a few cases where a user has asked me to delete their account. Would it be possible for a user to have the option to delete his/her own account?
Jasonawojo Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 This has been brought up many times in the past. It would make a nice addition for busy boards in particular however in any case the account deletion requests, users should be able to request deletion via User CP, are put into a deletion queue in which an Admin would have to approve the deletion of the accounts before they are actually deleted.

No really a high priority as I see, but a nicity.

Wolfie Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 [brainstorm][excessive-babbling] Deletion Queueing with reason required (as mentioned)Admin can select type of deletion (completely delete the member, extreme seclusion so that member "appears" deleted but isn't) Admin can select auto-deletion-approve after x number of (hours/days/weeks) where 0=off (must approve manually), -1 is instant. Admin can also select if the member may still use their account (minus posting/PMing privs) until their account is deleted, as well as being able to undo the request to reinstate their account status (but may not request a deletion for x number of hours/days/weeks {admin optional} to prevent abuse)Ability to "merge" members together. Out of all the possible member ID's, Admin can select which one will be used, which name to retain, and anything else that is different will be listed with buttons via "( )ID:Name field:data" format so that Admin can select which version of each line to keep. All posts from the members selected get converted to the single member ID to be used. Additionally, the original accounts and information get stored into an optional log with raw SQL formatted information and human-readable information and a copy of the new account for restoration and history tracking purposes. [/excessive-babbling] *Note: Left the brainstorming tag open on purpose ;)
