IPS Community Suite 4.2 Coming Soon

Sign In 2017-03-08 15-53-07.png

We are well into development on IPS Community Suite 4.2 and are excited to start announcing all the new features and improvements.

Our next big release is focused on engagement with your members. You will see enhancements to our Reputation system, new ways to encourage people to register on your community, and enhancements to existing features to make them more interactive. There are also entirely new capabilities we cannot wait to show you ranging from new ways to organize content to tools to help promote your community.

Version 4.2 also features a refreshed AdminCP and default front-end design. Theme changes in 4.2 are mostly in the CSS framework so your existing themes will either work without issue or require minor changes to work in the new version.

Over the next several weeks we will be posting news entries with previews of upcoming features fairly often. Be sure to follow our News section, our Facebook, or Twitter to stay up to date.

We expect IPS Community Suite 4.2 to be out in mid-2017 with a public preview available sooner.

Everyone at IPS has worked very hard on this update and we think you will love it!

Will this release add some more functions are upgrades to Gallery? It does need some more features than the strip down version it is now from what it was.

I'm using a custom 4.1 theme.

With the refreshed theme, will my previous version be compatible, or i'll need to re-do the entire theme?

It already answers that question.

Looks nice but we will see what will actually happen. There is nothing specific in the article so all the improvements can be just new colors. ;)

I think you guys are announcing/releasing this at a great time. With the upcoming release of Xenforo2 this will help keep current customers from switching sides as well. I think in the last couple of years IPB has got a great solid code foundation and now it's time to release all the fun stuff. Looking forward to it!

If there is one feature we all would like to see it's Complete block of a user if he is annoying another member. As of now this is limited to collapse of the members posts. I have seen conflicts to the extent that forums close down altogether. A forum as such is all about opinions, there are bound to be difference in openions to the extent that at times the conversation really heats up. Facebook and Twitter do this the right way.

I agree with this.  I'd love to see something along the lines of how Facebook user blocks work.  When you block someone on Facebook, you cannot see their profile, you cannot see their posts, you don't see them in the list of users for a group, you pretty much never see anything from them.  The only time you'll even see their name is if someone writes it out without linking to their profile.  Very effective.

I've had this same request on my forum by numerous people over the years.

Also topic starter can edit/delete others' replies in that topic and block member from seeing his topic, just like Facebook's status.

Please give us more details as fast as possible, so I'll know what kind of plugins should I order from private developers. I'd like to avoid a situation that I'll working on the same features which will be included in 4.2 update.

Neither Facebook nor twitter could have existed if it wasn't for this feature. I have blocked countless annoying members who mess my account with cheap comments.
