Guests, Adsense and Default theme

Featured Replies

I use basically two themes, but with the addition of a new ad source, I am trying to go to three.

Where I have today/had

  • Subscriber theme - that did not have Adsense tags or site embedded ads

  • Default theme - which was the theme for all registered members (non-subscribers) and Guests - it carried Adsense tags (auto ads) and site selected embedded ads

Where I am trying to get is to

  • Subscriber theme - that does have Adsense tags or site embedded ads

  • Default theme - for registered members (non-subscribers) - selected site embedded ads only

  • "Guest theme" - for guests that will employ Adsense (autoads) and site embedded ads (but not necessary)

The problem I'm running into is my default theme will show to the guests and they can shift to it, rather than join the site.

If I make the Guest theme the default to solve the problem above, then the Adsense (autoads) makes it into the other two themes.

Are there any similar experiences or recommendations on how to achieve this? Not showing default theme to Guests might do it, but I don't see that capability.

I appreciate the insight.

Ads from another theme would not shift from one to another. What I suspect is happening there is its not switching themes when people log in. Have you checked this with the theme menu at the bottom first of all?

Also, could I ask, are you using the built in ad system? If so, would you not be better to use ad permissions?
