How to download records in a database

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am possibly being a bit dense but I want to download the records I have created in a database. I know how to download the Database templates etc but I don't know how to get the actual content. Is it possible to do this?

Thanks,

Nigel

There is no feature for that.

But a Pages database is just a flat table. You can download it via phpMyAdmin as MySQL dump or CSV depending on your needs.

There are several ways to accomplish this, but it really depends on the scope and what you want to do with the data.

  1. You could use the REST API to get all records and custom field values.

  2. You could use a custom RSS feed to get the records.

Hi gents @opentype @Daniel F , thanks for the fast response. Long time no speak I hope you are well.

Unfortunately I don't know what phpMyAdmin is and I couldn't find it in the admincp. ChatGPT has given me an idea for how to rest the REST API approach so I will attempt that!

As context, I want to download 75 records from a database in a one-off download. Preferably I would like to see all the records in an Excel output.

It’s something that most webhosters offer to access the MySQL database, if your community is self-hosted.
It would certainly allow you to export a Pages database and open it in Excel.
