Recurring payments migration to v5

Featured Replies

We have been selling physical products as memberships, and they all come with recurring payments through either PayPal or Stripe. I understand that we will no longer have shipping or physical products. Will these recurring payments be untouched? Can they be converted to the existing membership system?

We ship a welcome pack for the membership, and having it as a physical product makes this dramatically easier than just a pure membership. We have a Shopify store now, so we will need to figure out how to initiate the shipment from here, but it would be good to keep the old memberships where they are.

Thank you,
Steve

You will want to remove the shipping information/requirement from the product settings prior to upgrading to version 5. Otherwise, the system will disable the product from being purchased seeing as it cannot collect on the shipping data any longer.

You could add custom fields for that product for shipping address so you can still collect that data, if you wish. However, it will not be tied to any of the version 4 shipping features.

So, disabling the Physical Product setting will preserve everything else, including renewals?

Can either the standard purchase or the Subscription purchase trigger a webhook?

I saw that a purchase can generate a License Key. How can that key be found, and how can that key be used?

Thank you,
Steve

Yes, you should be able to change a product while preserving everything on it.

A standard product works in exactly the same way in terms of the payment webhooks (which is what I assume you mean here?)

License keys, if you generate them, can be found in their client area. What you use those keys for is entirely up to yourself really.

Thank you!

I need to figure out if there is a way to initiate a Shopify order once the user purchases a specific product (subscription).

Or add that license key to Shopify as a Discount code.
