Would it be possible to create a drag and drop diagram app that worked with 5 on CIC?

Featured Replies

Thought this was too dumb to put in the developer section.

I was wondering if a technical diagram creation tool could be built for 5 on CIC. Or would something like that need to be self hosted?

Thanks

Whether or not it would be allowed on Cloud likely would come down to what the developer chooses to build it with. Like things that we restrict on Cloud, like if the app makes a lot of HTTP requests to our services, would not be allowed. Just kind of outside bad practice there would be no difference between running on Cloud or self-hosted. Now, if the developer also builds in interacts with other services or items, you can't host anything on Cloud that isn't our software so you would need to host those elsewhere.

Not sure I know enough to even ask the right questions.

Is JS on the front end considered hosting software? But I guess falls into your comment about what the dev chooses to build.

Can JS be used for a game from CIC and record things like scores ect... ?

Thanks

Javascript on the front-end would be contained within our software. Think of what I said about software like hosting your own WordPress instance here. That is external software not related to our own so would not be allowed. Javascript can be contained within an application in our software so is allowed.

It comes down to how it is built, not necessarily what is built. Like if you built a game which every millisecond needs to ping the server with an HTTP request, that is not allowed. However, if you build a game that pings it responsibly once every couple minutes, that's fine.

That is very helpful, thanks!

Makes total sense.
