I think this will be great i have over then 350 Forum some time the member Is not Intersted to View the whole forum .. so if they have a CP To hide the forum they dont need to view .. or move it up etc.. for each user this will be nice..

Cant the user just collapse the forums they dont wanna view... clicking the +(plus) / - (minus) buttons on the forums they dont wanna see..

You will see in the top of the forum this icon



check it and see how good is the Control .. i think this is better .. the way u say when User will log out and come back .. or they delete their cookies it will retern back .

that woudl be userful to collpase invidv forums you didn't want to see instead of the whole category.

yeah and this is for the user who have over then 500 forum.. and it make the page really slow .. when it loading .
