  1. Nope. Only when I activate it for members too, does it appear.
  2. Thanks all. Set it to show for guests and members too, and it shows perfectly. So for some reason it doesn't show to admins alone, but that isn't important. It works otherwise.
  3. Tried various browsers, same. Disabled all addons...same Have about 6 themes installed, tried them all...same. Not sure what you mean by primary profile @rastafari? I'm the main admin, and have always been logged in with that profile. So it should show to me as admin? But I guess I'll have to enable it for members or guests and try it as one of those tomorrow. Wanted to avoid the questions until I decide where I am going with it, and once they see it they are going to start a debate. But I guess that is easiest for now.

  5. Yes to both. Shows active, cleared cache. I'm guessing the pic doesn't have to be a certain size? Confused now. PhP is current, software version is current. Theme is standard.
  6. Have never used advertising before, but when going through the settings, I saw an advertising setting in Site Promotion that seemed fairly simple. So I wanted to just test it and see if it's viable. I set up a single image to show. I set only admin to see it while I test. Added a simple image. But no matter what I do, I don't see any image anywhere, in any of the places I set it to appear. Have tried multiple times. Can't see anything wrong with what I am doing, so wanted to ask if there is something I need to know, or how to troubleshoot? Anyone using it that can give any advice? I haven't tried showing to any other groups, but surely showing to admin should work? Anyone? Much appreciated.
  7. But the hosts did change the CRON to 80 which should be correct, and I am still getting these error messages and at least 6 tasks locking and not running every time. Anything else I can check? The CRON appears to be correct now...still having an issue. Must be set to run every1 minute, right?
  8. Hi, Forum is running ok. But whenever I check the support area, I get a warning about repeated log entries, and on checking those, I see repeated errors as per below. I have just edited out the url for safety. I don't know coding at all, so have no idea what this means or if/how to fix it. Is it something I should be getting my hosts to look at? Appreciate any info. 103 Counts of the following 93 Counts of the following And a bunch of others similar. I did pick up that the hosts hadn't updated the CRON php version from 72 to 80, and I did ask them to change it, and they say they did. Not sure if this relates to that, but I am still getting warnings that 5 or 6 tasks didn't run and am manually doing those. Are these errors related? I assume they are. Thanks.

  12. I am currently on PHP 7.2.34 on VPS hosting. I would like to update to the new 4.7.0 software, which obviously won't support that PHP version anymore. My hosts are willing to update the PHP, but here's my worry. If I update the software first to 4.7.0, it will pick up I am on an old PHP version, and not do the update, right? If I ask the hosts to update PHP first, to maybe 8.0 or 8.1, then isn't my forum going to go down because my current version doesn't support that version of PHP? Would I then lose access to the ACP and not be able to do the auto software update? I am hesitant to start messing with code and uploading files again, prefer a nice easy way. So what is the suggested progression to do the update, and should I maybe rather ask them to just go to PHP 7.4? Advice? Thanks.
  13. Thanks guys. The hosts updated the memory to 16 Gigs, and that does seem to have made a big difference. Not getting a lot of complaints. But I'd still like to fine tune as much as possible. I wonder if allowing members basically free hosting of images, and most posts having 5-10 pics, for many years...will take its toll? Hosts aren't complaining, but I wonder if there is a downside to this. I'll look at adding Cloudflare. I'm a bit in the dark as to what's needed without any issues with IP's etc, but will look into it. IPB forums don't have any clear and concise threads on this. Don't even mind the $20/month options, but seems a bit technical. I'll check it out. Thanks.
  14. Ok, so my forum is a fairly large (maybe not by many standards) international one, hosted on a VPS here in South Africa. Fairly reputable and large data centre, and full managed as I am mostly clueless when it comes to technical stuff. Recently I started to get a lot of complaints about slow loading times. As in pictures not loading, or waiting forever for the page to load. Not everyone is experiencing this, and for me the site is 100% fast and up all the time. I have not been able to duplicate any of the issues. the hosts (nice guys, not giving me the runaround) say there is no issue this side, everything is ok and fast. And that the issue must be with isp's or lines overseas. But I cannot think that the USA, Oz, UK etc all have members with dodgy lines. I have tried to ask people to fault find the problem, change themes, do ping tests etc. Nothing changed my side. The hosting seems adequate to me. 4 Cores, 8 Gigs of RAM, Php 7.2 (asking them to upgrade that) MySQL 10.5, Apache 2.4.48....adequate webspace and bandwidth. I really cannot diagnose what would cause pages to take so long to load than people give up. And yet many/most members don't have a problem? I wanted to pay with caching, hoping that would help. But the hosts have not found anything familiar with installing Redis, and there are no other options. I have tried File System and MYSQL database....neither seems to have changed anything. I am on file system currently. Much of the problem has been with images. I allow free uploading mostly, and there are a lot of images. But that shouldn't cause this? Or will it? I have considered Cloudflare CDN but am a novice and don't want to break anything. Can likely do the $20/month option, even though this is a free forum that runs on donations. Frankly, I don't know how to troubleshoot this issue and see what is causing it. Nothing obvious I can find, especially since it was running fine for years. Would pay someone if they can assist. Love to hear any suggestions in a way that I can understand. Not being able to experience the slow times myself is a problem. Forum is at http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb and would really appreciate any advice or way forward. Losing members that I cannot afford to lose, and am lost what to improve or try. Think I've tried all the obvious settings, with Redis being the only one I haven't managed to do. Do you think that would help? What else can I check or get the hosts to do/check? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is a respected and vital forum worldwide in my field of interest with many important members. Thanks.
  15. Surely this is a critical issue? I mean maybe guys want to take a break from the subscription for a while and not renew. And then later they decide they want to continue? Is there a workaround? I find manually adding them causes other issues, and so does cancelling invoices etc. Best way to make them not inactive and able to sign up again?

  17. Another question. This seems to be geared towards members adding raffles. How would I set this so that only admin can add raffles. Members can purchases tickets, but only admin can create a new raffle that everyone can see, and purchase tickets for?
  18. If I have 2 payment methods set in commerce, and one of them is Paypal... When I create a raffle, can I set it to only use one of the payment methods, since Paypal forbids raffles? I would like to set it so that only the other method can be used. Don't know if this is possible with this app?
  19. Been having a bit of a problem with subscriptions. Forum has 6 month "Gold Membership" and 12 month Gold membership that allow for a few added features. No issue there. However, I cannot pinpoint the exact problem, but it seems as though when the subscriptions expire, if the members don't renew in time, they get marked as inactive. At that point, some say they don't have the option in subscriptions to sign up again and lose the ability to renew. I think there is also a tie in with subscribers who cancel their recurring Paypal payments and want to do them manually. Some I granted manual subscriptions to, and when those are expired, they cannot sign up for a new subscription and are locked at inactive. Looking at my inactive subscribers list, I cannot see a way to make them active again. I am not stupid I think....but this is making me feel stupid. I've gone round and round the settings and looking for a way for a subscriber who has gone inactive to renew from that date again and become active. I feel there needs to be more documentation around subscriptions. One member I added to the 6 month subscriptions list, and he is now listed as a Gold member....but still listed as inactive?? Any help please...and thanks.
  20. Not working for me. On 4.6, installed it twice. Anytime I activate it, everyone gets a page error that states "Oops something went wrong, please try again" It is not the message to read a post, as no post is even set yet. It just gives an error for every post they visit, except anyone excluded in the settings. Any idea why they are getting this error even without a post set yet until I deactivate the plugin?
  21. I'm on 4.4.10 and looking to go to 4.5.4 Many years ago, I converted from PhpBB, but that was many versions ago, and have been through multiple upgrades since then. However, when I download the current version software, it gives me the option to download a version that will: Now I have indeed converted, but it was so long ago. Do I need to download this version with the converters, or can I safely use the regular upgrade files without ticking that box?
  22. Seems this has been a problem for a long time, and it is bugging my members. Default theme unmodded. It was discussed here: I don't expect anyone is going to suddenly fix it now that I post about it again, but I would love to know if this remains an issue with 4.5.2 or if it has been fixed? Would make my upgrade faster if I know that things like this are not an issue anymore. Anyone had it on 4.4 and has gone to 4.5 without that issue anymore?
