  1. What about sites that have years of embedded images already? Some of us have been storing those images on our servers for years now. wool old/existing image proxy images we already have saved continue to work, or will all of those stored proxy image break on upgrade?
  2. The default streams created by ips already use nice furls stream id furls are fine for streams created by members, but system streams created via admin should have more control when adding new default streams to the ACP , there should be an option to set the url for that stream.
  3. We've needed this for SO LONG. Prior to the 4.x series, you could customize the content spy app to get a semi-custom home page for users. And activity streams are decent, but very manual for the users. It would be so great if IPS ripped off a page from tapatalk, and provided a main "stream" homepage, that intelligently updated based on the user (what they reply to, what they search for, etc).
  4. Chrome and FF both support it. MS edge chromium engine will release on Jan 15th'ish. So about 60% of all web traffic is covered with loading=lazy right there (until safari adapts it). In addition, loading=lazy works intelligently in combination with traditional lazy loading scripts (they built it into the browser engine). You actually get even better performance when using BOTH. There's zero downside to including that attribute on all images and iframes in addition to the javascript version. You get the best of both worlds.
  5. This is the weirdest thing. I think we've narrowed it down to a conflict between Google tag manager (used to load Google analytics) and this app. But we're still trying to figure out why the issue only shows up when this app is installed AND Google tag manager is enabled. But doesn't seem to affect Firefox at all while affecting every other browser. Will report back if we can figure out what the exact issue is
  6. I've only installed in my my sandbox at this point because of the issue, so if you like I can give you access (or @teraßyte can as well). P.S. I have replicated the issue on Safari/Mac as well as Safari on iOS. The only browser I've been able to get it to work on is Firefox/Windows/Desktop (even firefox iOS app has the same bug). Anyway, just let me know if you don't want to look into it so we can arrange a refund. The app is a useful utility, but I'm not going to be upset if you'd rather just cancel out the purchase instead of looking into it.
  7. Are there any known issues with the latest version of this app on IPS 4.3.6 and chrome? I just bought this app, and it works 100% on firefox. But on chrome, after installing the app, the main navigation doesn't work as intended. The app installs fine, I'm able to go to my account settings and link an account fine but here's where I go wrong For example on mobile - once the app is installed - simply opening the main mobile nav menu causes you to instantly be logged out of the site. On desktop with the full desktop nav - trying to click on the "linked accounts" icon opens the modal for a split second, before it redirects to an error page for the app <board url>/linkedaccounts/accounts/ But this redirect only happens if you've linked an account. If no accounts are linked, clicking the icon opens the modal correctly. The "create" menu and the user menu both open and work, but the notification, PM and report center icons all end up instantly redirecting to the corresponding page for each feature instead of opening the modal. So whatever is causing the linked accounts icon to not properly open the modal without triggering a page navigation, is also affecting the other 3 icons i mentioned. No JS errors thrown. Running support tool and flushing the browser cache have no affect either.
  8. There's no iOS support because apple refuses to add support to iOS for native notifications. The only way to do it is with an iOS app. We have one for our own use, but it wouldn't be practical for most sites to maintain an iOS app (or pay a 3rd party for one) to get notifications working on iOS. You'd be talking something like $2500-5000 just for the apps, plus another $500 a year or so to keep them updated for new versions of iOS/Android. Hopefully some day apple will come around and get with every other device on the planet. Hell, even MacOS can support the notifications without an app, so it's not like apple doesn't know there's a need for this. I think they are just holding out because they make so much revenue from the app store that they want to force everyone to publish an app.
  9. The announcement improvements made last year are wonderful. They are so much more useful than in the past. A small extra feature can take them even further with very little code. With the current system, the user clicks on the title to open the announcement in a modal. That's great when the announcement body can contain all the info you need your members to see. But it would be even better if there was an optional "URL" field when creating an announcement. When the URL field is filled in, then the body field is left blank. Clicking on the title would take the user directly to the specified URL instead of opening the announcement modaL It's quite common that an announcement is introducing members to a new site feature or a promotion, or an event. So we end up creating an announcement that is mostly just a link to the page we really want them to see/visit. The extra click saved from not having to open the modal just to click the link in that modal would make announcements more user friendly with very minor code changes.
  10. I've added this to my site (supports Android plus every major desktop browser) It's been a huge engagement tool for us. The only reason I don't offer it in the market is I'd have to charge as much as an IPS license to justify the cost of maintaining and supporting it.
  11. @Mark I'm also curious about how you handled this scenario. We actually wrote our own mod that does almost exactly what you've announced in this topic (create a temp account as soon as they submit the post, and leave it un-approved until they confirm/complete registration). It worked as intended (increase registration and engagement - but we ran into issue with existing members posting while logged out, and ended up shutting off the mod until we could get back in and address a way to merge the "temp" account created with the new post to the pre-existing account the member already had (but wasn't logged into at the time they made the post). Once we started running it live, we ran into the issue of members existing accounts, and ended up turning it back off until we could address the issue. After that, life happens and we never got a chance to go back in and work out a solution for that situation. I'm crossing my fingers that you accounted for this in your system already?
  12. I was looking closer at the mod. Would it be possible to just make a copy of each reaction and have the copies have different point values, and enable in different forums Example Like +1 (standard "like" enabled everywhere but the off topic forums Like +0 ( a copy of "like", but worth zero points and only enabled in the off topic forums? Visually to the user they would look identical, but depending on the forum selected the +1 or +0 would be enabled. This might be a PIA to manage the ever evolving list of which forums each reputation type is enabled/disabled for, but if there's no other option..could that work?
  13. I've read through the download page, and also through this topic and I'm still not sure if this plugin can do what I'm looking for. My use case is rather simple, I need a way to make reactions in specific forums (off-topic for example)....so that no points are ever awarded in the selected "off-topic" forums. I don't want to disable reactions entirely in those forums (users love the getting their "likes")...but I don't want the "off-topic" reactions increasing member reputation scores, so this way the leader board would be based only on reputation given in forums that earn points. Is it possible with this add-on to have reputation enabled globally, but in selected forums have all reputation given worth 0 points while still allowing reputation points to be awarded in the regular "on topic" forums?
  14. Recently (about 2 months ago) finally upgraded to the 4.3 series (from 4.1). One of the most anticipated features for our site was clubs. Now that it's been live for 2 months and have been receiving feedback from members. I thought I'd share what I feel (from member feedback) is a major missing feature. 1) IPS markets clubs as a "micro-site" within your community. 2) Clubs are the forum answer to facebook groups Engagement is everything. We're fighting against massive social platforms, all screaming for users attention. Does it suck? sure...but that's the reality of a mobile web. You have a tiny screen that gives limited space to put info in front of users, and we live in a "push" generation. i.e. users consume the info put in front of them, they don't go seeking out that info. So if we're not putting the info in front of them, we're losing those eyeballs to other social engagements. With that being said...why when someone joins a club, are they not added to "follow" that club? When a member registers on a website, they expect to receive notifications for the website they just registered on. When someone joins a Facebook group, they are joining because they want to be notified of what that "group" is doing (events, discussions, etc.). If a member makes the conscious decision to "join" a club...isn't that clear indication that member wants to know what is going on in that club? For example - our clubs are very much location driven in our segment. When someone is joining a "local" club - that member wants, in-fact they expect that being a member means they will be notified about the activities of that club. But right now, a member must first "join"...once their join request is approved, they have to know to come back and "follow" that club in a total separate action. At the very least, this should be a setting similar to the "auto-follow topic on reply" setting. Where the board admin can set a default option, and members can change that setting in their notification settings. Another option would be to simply ask the member at the time they Join if they'd like to "follow" the club (but honestly, IMO..the simple fact that they are making a conscious decision to "join" the club in the first place is 99% confidence that member is telling you right then they want to know what is going on in that club. Looking through the list of members that have joined clubs, almost none of them have realized they have to follow the club. I've had numerous complaints in just 2 months from members not receiving notifications for a club they joined, the member never realizing that they had to "follow" the club in an entirely separate action. I can already see club owners on my site losing interest with clubs they've created because they are not getting engagement back from the members that joined. And the primary reason they aren't getting any engagement from club members, is the system doesn't notify those members of what is going on in the clubs they are a member of. Is it really reasonable to manually contact every member that joins any club and let them know they have to also "follow" the club they just joined or else they miss out on what is happening in the club?
  15. I agree. I get the logic of having the breadcrumb go back to the last level they were at (which is everything in fluid view). However, this is NOT the ideal behavior for a user landing on the site from search or a direct link. If Joe Random lands on your site from search he's most likely landing directly on a topic relevant to his search. If joe-blow then goes to a main index in fluid view, he is overwhelmed with massive topics no relevant to the subject he was searching for when landing on your site. And in a mobile world, user's aren't going to go exploring around trying to figure it out. At the very minimum, this should be an admin setting to toggle on/off "show full breadcrumb in fluid view". There's huge value in using fluid view in the mobile world, but there's also a huge penalty for forcing a new user that knows nothing about the structure of your site when they land on it from search, to be given an over-whelming list of topics totally unrelated to the subject they first searched for when landing on your site. Please add an admin setting toggle the full breadcumb to remain on when in fluid view.
  16. You really can't use the show/hide as suggested. Adsense will ban you for using CSS to hide an ad on the page. You're only real "simple" option is to stick with adsense responsive ads. If you load 2 ads (and use the CSS to show/hide them) - adsense will ban your account for making ad requests that are hidden by the CSS. Your only other option is to switch to an ad server like DFP small business (which is free) and use that to serve your adsense in the sizes you want. But, that will require a bit of setup more than just dropping adsense ad units on the page. 17. By any chance would this work on 4.1.19.4? (haven't had time to upgrade all our crap to 4.2.x yet)
  18. I dug around in the bug tracker and found this is a known bug fixed in a future version and applied the fix you listed. http://www.sosinvision.com.br/ips4/index.php?/tracker/classifieds/renewed-adverts-not-renewingshowing-r319/#comment-1469 I've searched this topic and I see some old, similar issues. But those old issues were reported fixed many versions ago. I'm not sure if I have a bug- or just something configured wrong. I have both free and paid packages. - both free and paid packages are allowed to renew. I'm having an issue with renewals on the free adverts (not sure if the same issue is there on paid adverts because this is a new install, and no paid ads have come due for renewal yet). General > Settings > Advert Options > Expired Adverts > Auto renew FREE adverts? (I have this set to OFF) - I don't want free adverts to stay around forever, constantly auto-renewing - so I set this off so the user would have to choose to renew the advert. Free Package Renewal Settings: Allow Renewals? ON Renew for more: 15 days Charge for renewals: OFF This user has a bunch of ads. I just logged in as the user, and tried to renew one of his many expired ads: https://www.thumpertalk.com/profile/325270-jamesm113/content/?type=classifieds_advert This is the ad I tried to renew from the "my renewals" - https://www.thumpertalk.com/classifieds/item/86-asv-clutch-lever-honda-kawasaki-suzuki-yamaha/ It seems to work - however, the ad isn't totally "renewed". The date is updated as if it did renew - however, the ad is still expired and locked https://www.screencast.com/t/y6BBvDWp4 https://www.screencast.com/t/b4HBf89A Is this a bug? or do I have something configured wrong?
  19. Are you using spark post on your test board? I'm wondering if something in spark post settings is detecting the emails sent by classified app as spam and not delivering it. I've never tried spark post , but I did have a similar issue with mandrill sending a bulk mail once. A word in the email subject of the bulk mail triggered some kind of spam list, and only the first couple batches of email was delivered with the rest getting sent to a black hole. @Ziggs maybe try disabling spark post for a day and let your server directly send the emails and see if they get delivered. I'm my experience, any time I've tried to send mail through a third party service I've had delivery issues with anything that involves selling something. Even topic notifications for topics titled "for sale" or similar have given me problems.
  20. I've been fighting with this exact issue myself, and it seems the obvious solution is being missed here by IPS. Proxy images should be store as just another media tag so the URL to the image can be whatever URL is configured in files storage. This would let us simple create a S3 bucket (or using an existing bucket) and directly link to that bucket/custom URL to serve the proxy images. You already let us choose to store the images in any of the file storage option locations we create. But, it's forced to display using the proxy script. If we have a custom storage option as the place to store proxy images (such as s3) - it would be so much nicer if we could just set it to serve the image directly from the bucket/cdn/whatever custom storage location using whatever custom URL we choose to set when setting up that storage option. 1) as it stands now, the file already get's stored in a bucket (if that's the storage option we selected proxy images). But, to serve that image, the server must go fetch that image from the proxy and pass it through our web servers to the end user. That's essentially adding unnecessary delay for the end user to view the proxy images, and it's creating extra work for the server that isn't' needed. Yeah, I get that the script is doing other things like making sure the image actually is still in the proxy cache, and re-downloading it from the source if we don't have it in the cache - but there's a table for that. If it's in the table, then it's in the proxy cache, so why not let the URL it serves from be direct from the CDN we have those images stored on? 2) as other users have mentioned - with an S3 bucket as the storage point - we can in-effect set the proxy to unlimited and just let all the proxy images get stored in a bucket forever if we wanted. 5 years down the road when the original source image has long been deleted - we still have it and it's still serving directly from our unlimited storage bucket. S3 storage is insanely cheep. I had 32 million revisions of images stored in a bucket- the actual storage portion of the fees was under $5 a month. If it's an old topic, those images are rarely viewed - so the costs wouldn't be much to website, but the benifit of not having dead images around the site in old topics is invaluable. just make proxy another media tag - when we change storage options, let the URL those images serve from change based on the configured storage option. Less server resources - faster page loads for the user, and we have the option to store external images for as long as we want ensuring no topic ever ends up with broken/missing images. 99% of the work is already done with the proxy setup you guys have. All that is left is the last step of letting us control url to that image.
  21. @BomAle I would personally truncate any RSS either in feeds or streams. My thought is if you give the user 100% of the content in the RSS feed (even from a stream) then the user has no reason to visit your website unless they want to reply. I'd personally rather give them just enough in the RSS so they can decide to click to "read more" and visit the website.
  22. I'm sorry I never noticed your reply. The publish toolbar is set to a very high zindex intentionally so the behavior you mentioned is normal. The reason you get different behavior on different menus is the theme in ips doesn't have a standard for all expanding menus. Just setting all menu items to the high value I mentioned in first post is Google's official recommendation https://support.google.com/richmedia/troubleshooter/2903079#ts=2903081%2C2903082%2C2903195
