  1. It would be great to send out an email to those who haven't purchased in the last x months, who have been active in the last x months so you can send these active users coupons to purchase packages. That way you aren't emailing people who purchased 2 years ago and haven't been back since then (if you didn't want to - since some people just move on).
  2. Cool, something I suggested nearly 2 years ago is finally being implemented. Nice to see a change to an inefficiency within the system. Congrats.
  3. Cool guys. I can't wait to leave this community. Worst I've ever been on...even vb.com's official forums. Congrats on being the best at being the worst.

      More problems dude?

  4. That's untrue because Adwords users can see the keyword performance if I read the articles right a few weeks ago. I've been under a rock for 2 weeks so if things have changed since then...then I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's what I read. Plus, how does blocking that information in GA tell you what the high performing keywords are or give you any sort of info for things like that? If you are trying to game the system, you are still going to game it even if you don't know the performance of the keywords. People know the high paying ones so they are going to do all the backlinking and what not that will bring people to their site and rank their site higher for those keywords.
  5. I see this move as the first move by Google and think they are going to start doing more things like this. I mean, I believe they claimed that it's for privacy reasons. I call BS! Privacy for keywords? Really...what can webmasters gather from seeing keywords being used to get to their site...against people? We can't link people to these keywords. These keywords help us to know we are on the right track. I predict in the future Google will be offering a paid service for those who want to know what keywords people use to get to their site...that's my guess as of right now as I see that as the only reason for making this stupid move.
  6. Maybe it's my ignorance but I thought xF only used sprites for their smilies...
  7. Yet another SEO topic bites the dust. At least Matt wants to hear from us. The rest of the staff think they are "know-it-alls" and don't actually know faeces and tend to lump all of us concerned with SEO into one stinkin' pile of crap rather than actually seeing how we run our communities. I'd like to see some of the staffs forums now that I think about it...

  8. Glad someone had the smarts to post in the SEO thread. I'm beginning to feel the majority of people saying IPB SEO isn't bad are just idiots and think all of us that want to improve it just want to do so for money. For me...it's so I can get the right information to people (FREE TOO!). I know my content is better than the sites I compete with yet...since converting, we appear under them or not at all.

  9. I was late to the party on the new SEO thread. I think the thing you do NOT realize is that SEO for many of these admins (including myself) is the last peice to the puzzle. We have a great userbase but it has become stagnant. In my top 10 keywords, 4 are my site name. It wasn't like that before I moved here. And for your information, I'm one of the 2 that Matt is talking to about SEO. I just feel you are looking the other way when we are making our points (much like Rhett and ot...

I don't know what this is in regards to. You probably should have posted this in whatever topic you and I evidently both posted in.

It was one of the SEO threads that was closed and you had stated your opinion that those of us "focusing" on SEO are focusing on the wrong things.

  10. You seem to like my posts :P What's your story behind what I've said and you liking it?

  11. Or for defined pages. #Rules. #contactus. #Settings.
  12. Although it may be the "in thing" but I see no benefit. Unless I'm just not thinking of how it can be utilized...which no one has yet stated a good use for it.
  13. Again, this goes back to how it will function and how it can benefit a community. If it's only one community that can benefit from this, then leave it out and create a mod for it. If it's multiple, then it should be considered but I'm lost trying to find a valid reason to do this.
  14. Wow, it's bad enough the kids on my site do this but to make it a function in IPB....umm...idk. It may work but I see no point in it. Why would people use it? You mention linking, which I'm assuming would bring you to a "search-like" page with all the threads that have these hashtags as tags on them. I see no real value in this and I honestly don't see how it would benefit the community.
  15. Wrong. Bing, which has been increasing it's market by 30% in the last quarter HEAVILY uses them. Google still uses them but doesn't use them as a key factor like it did about 10-15 years ago. Yes there is a limit to each of them, but starting it out with the title of the thread, since that SHOULD be your main key words (and not just the individual words) only makes sense to have it auto add to your meta tags. As I stated above, most forum sites will not be ranking for individual keywords which is how IPS has it set up. We are all ranking in SERPs with minimal of 2 keywords up to 6 keywords most likely. It does not make any sense what-so-freakin-ever to keep doing the meta keywords they way they are doing it. I know in vB utilizing vBSEO I was able to set my description as something like the following: Your auto meta tags need some work posted in IP.Board is about I believe this is one part of the reasons why IPB forums rank so bad... Now, it may not make the most sense and I don't believe that was my exact set up but it's something similar. It doesn't have to make sense. It has to have enough keywords in there to show relevance to searches. When people see search results, they want to see a lot of bolded words in their description without typically reading it. The way they have it set up now will now bold very many words bc most members blab on about themselves or something stupid in the first few sentences. At least the way I just posted above will repeat the title which is going to be what shows up in the results, then you want the description to be relevant and bolded so repeating the title works, and to top it off, saying what section it is in probably will help even further bc the posts are related to that and the searcher may be looking for something for that section name. E.g. Person search "High jump glitch Halo 2" On my site, someone posts "High jump glitch" in my Halo 2 section. For one, title tags are not optimized in IPB either so I'll make a lil exert about it here. Title tag should look like: High jump glitch - Halo 2. Then the description will be like "High jump glitch posted in our Halo 2 section is about I just figured out how to do the high jump glitch on...", then the keywords should look like "high jump glitch, high, jump, glitch" (and now that I think about it, it should include the name of the section as well, which is what I had with vBSEO, so it should look more like "high jump glitch halo 2, high jump glitch, high, jump, glitch". This can cause a MUCH HIGHER relevance in search results, more bolded words, which when you read about search result psychology, that's mainly what people look for. In fact, the actually subconsciously look for an arrow design but we can't quite do that with the tools we have. And since you bring up the "limit" on how many you can have, well more times than not, these automated keywords don't even reach the 250 character limit for keywords. Plus the fact you can just cut if off when it reaches ~250 to make sure you don't cut off any keywords in mid-word. As for the description, it being 150 character limit...you just cut it off and add ... at the end to show the sentence wasn't done. Either way, you guys can continue to have faecesty results, I'm going to look into making this more automated for my site bc editing 400,000+ threads doesn't appeal to me (not like I would edit that many but the idea of having to pick and choose between so many threads to manually edit is daunting).
  16. I believe this is one part of the reasons why IPB forums rank so bad. I'm lucky enough to have millions of backlinks where that kind of overrides the poor SEO construction. One thing I feel that needs a lil attention and better output is the auto-meta tags. So let's take this thread for example once I post it. The meta tags will look something like this: keywords: Your, auto, meta, tags, need, some, work, believe, one, part, reasons, why, IPB, forums description: I believe this is one part of the reasons why IPB forums rank so bad. I'm lucky enough to have millions of backlinks where that kind of overrides the poor SEO construction... Roughly speaking, that's probably what it will look like. Why not do something smarter. People make titles for a reason and most of us are not ranking for single word searches but more so with long tail. Why not make the meta tags output different. Something like: keywords: Your auto meta tags need some work, Your, auto, meta, tags, need, some, work, believe, one, part, reasons, why, IPB, forums description: Your auto meta tags need some work. I believe this is one part of the reasons why IPB forums rank so bad. I'm lucky enough to have millions of backlinks where that kind... That way in the keywords, you have your title in the meta keywords a long with your single keywords you guys already output. On top of that, you repeat your title in the description, which helps describe the thread as most people's first sentence doesn't quite do the description justice and that way you actually have something in there that does describe it (as titles tend to describe what the page is typically about).
  17. [quote name='Alexander V' timestamp='1318252775'] Just because you have no use for it does not mean others don't. Could all of you be so kind and accept the fact IP.Nexus is made to please multiple types of users, not just your own? Guys? Please? I've yet to see any of these "hosting" updates actually have any activity in them. All the other blogs about various updates get much more attention. This one is the most I've seen for the hosting part of nexus only because people are getting sick of seeing updates for this and need a BETTER ecommerce solution with a lot more options. It's claimed it's the most popular part of Nexus but I never see a lot of people applauding a hosting update like they do for everything else. I honestly can't see how it's the most popular. Nexus would be at the very bottom of my list for a hosting software solution...just saying.
  18. Using IP.SEO now. Finally got it to work the other day. Going to monitor it over the next couple of days to make sure it's creating them properly.
  19. Any way that you can add better functionality to the general configurations? More specifically, I'd like to see the ability to have 3 zones on maxcdn and have each type of file upload to it's respective zone (js, css, img). So that way if I need to purge js or css, I can do so without purging all the billions of pictures we have on our CDN.
  20. Appears as though it's being ignored. Should be a GREAT thing to be able to track everything easier. faeces, it doesn't even have to be a feature added, just a documentation stating how to properly set things up. But like I mentioned in the OP, most people on this site probably don't know what it is I'm requesting.
  21. Now, I must say, the best feature added to IP.SEO thus far has been the Live Meta Tag editor. Let's admit, the automatic meta tags created by IPB creates crap, but not totally their fault. Mainly the users posting and the admins for putting in bad descriptions for each forum (aiming it towards users reading it rather than bots reading it). Anyways, enough of praising the great feature, I think there should be one added to forum settings which would include the options when creating forums as well. Have extra fields that you can add like the Live Meta Tag editor so you can add the proper meta description and keywords right as you are creating the forum or even editing one. I think it would be best to add the fields right under the forum title and description but if that cannot be done and a tab must be added, I recommend just renaming the sitemap tab to "ip.seo" and include all that stuff in there.
  22. It's my fault I reported a bug and they ######ed up the fix? You seriously responded to me as if You think i was the one who screwed up the fix. It works fine on my board just sayin.

and in honesty... im agreeing with you... i personally think blocks should not use the database... for obvious reasons(a query running from data pulled by a query is never good)
.xml would be a wiser solution, but all that being said, the timing was and still is atrocious.

no... because that would imply it was a fix... which by no means it is...
im stating that with 3.2.x just hit, i certainly could not expect the developers to drop everything to revolutionize how ipc works.... could you?
im surprised it only took that month for the call to be made to revert the change.

and rather than griping about it(we BOTH see the problems of current status quo) why not check your PM's? I propose rather than waiting on Farber to make IPC what it SHOULD be, why not work together to do something about it?
Your gripes are many of my own gripes (that 90-query test actually executed faster than the default articles frontpage.)

  23. Bc I'm sure you knew the answer to the universe the very second you installed IPB...
  24. So the only thing you get out of this is the way a word is spelled?! That's one word out of thousands that have been written to shine light upon this boasted multi-platform product. And these are the types of answers we tend to get in our tickets and tracker...the ignoring of the true meat and potatoes of the content posted. Also I apologize for my foul language. Was up for 24 hours and sick and tired of fixing bugs in a system that shouldn't be there or bugs that I'm told are either there for a reason or do not exist. I'd edit the post if I could, but sadly...can't.
