v5 Bug – Forum index in Table view: topic is bold even if it's already viewed

Featured Replies

In v5, the most recently active topic remains bold in table view even after viewing it when there's at least one other unread topic in the same forum.

Default Invision theme, no custom CSS.

This issue occurs only when Table view is selected for the Forum index (in Theme Editor > Page layout). Other Forum index views work as expected, that same topic is not bold when switching to those other views.

For example here, after I read the topics

  • Check out my new car

  • Your favorite bike?

  • Best sailing boat

These topics remain bold on the forum index as you can see below, even though I've read them.

In the topic list inside the forum, everything works as expected. For example if I click "Cars" to enter the Cars forum, I can see that "Check out my new car!" is not bold in the topic list.

Are there other unread topics in that forum that perhaps are on another page?

Yes, there are other unread topics inside the forum, on the same page or another page, but the specific topic that is displayed in bold is a topic I've read. In that case, I would expect the name of the forum to be bold, but not the name of the topic, just like in grid view?

The whole item will be in bold in this case indicating the forum has an unread topic.

Is this by design? I find it confusing. Each time I see a bold topic title I'm thinking there's at least one post in that topic that I haven't read, then when I click it, I realize that I just read it and there are no new posts.

Ok so if I'm not mistaken, in v4, that topic title was never bold even when there were new posts in that topic? I think I liked that better, so I've added the following CSS, in case others find it useful.

[data-ips-hook="latestPoster"]  .ipsData__last-primary {
    font-weight:normal;
}
