I am scheduling my first live topic event, I remember that originally people had to register to the live topic and then they would get a reminder etc.... I can't figure out how to do that? Or is it no longer a thing?

You dont have to register to the live topic in any way. You just click on join, and you will be allowed to join. As long as you are in one of the groups that is selected when you create the live topic of course

I don't even see a "Join" button, just a "Start Event" button.

I ended up creating an Event, selecting RSVP, and linking it manually to the Live Event, so that people can register to the live topic. I wish RSVP was an option when I create a Live Topic and have it create its own event.

You dont see a join button, as you are the host, and there is nothing to join until the event is started. Once you start the event there will be a popup for people who are in one of the groups you selected to allow them to join it.
