I have to keep increasing the amount of image space for members. This is fine for those who have been members for years, but for new members, this makes no sense. I suggest the ability to apply a monthly upload limit for each usergroup.

In case it's at all helpful for you, I previously split my members into two groups to help with situations like these. I set up a group called "Active Members", moved all qualified members there, and then established Group Promotions rules to manage it automatically going forward.

My purpose was to restrict new members from voting in polls, plus to better control access to downloads. We're an artsy site and sometimes hold contests where voting is important. I like to prevent people from creating fake accounts solely for voting as much as reasonably possible.

A similar setup might work for you to allow established/longtime members to have more storage space.

As it happens, we are already considering creating some kind of privileged group for several reasons. I might add extra upload space as part of the group. But a monthly quota is what will work best. In fact, a privileged group with a higher monthly quota would make a lot of sense. I hope Invision some serious consideration.

It would also help to have a size limit per attachment, and limits on the number of attachments per post. I might be asking too much. The monthly quota is the most important item.

You could also consider Amazon.

Can that be used with Invision Cloud?

Having said that, space is not an issue for now. And is unlikely to be an issue for a long time. I just wish to avoid providing a huge amount of upload space to all members so that the few who really need it have it.

One thing I should have included is that this could be combined with a subscription service. I think for some communities this would make a lot of sense.

I suspect it can as it's a built in tool.

I was spending ridiculous amounts of money on my server. I have a VPS. To get more space, I needed to upgrade my entire plan / server. I went from a 100GB server to a 200GB server and that cost me about $60 more a month.
