    License Keys & URLs

Before continuing, it is important to understand how URLs are associated with your license for Invision Community.

    Note

This guide is applicable only to classic self-hosted customers. To change your domain on any other license, please visit the "Client Services → Changing your domain" guide

    Licensed URL

Each license is valid for one live installation URL only.
When you install the platform, the URL used during installation becomes your licensed URL, and this will be recorded against your license in the client area.

    This means:

    • The license is tied to the exact URL/domain used

    • Changing the URL later may require updates within your client area or environment

    • Any mismatch between the installed URL and the licensed URL can result in validation issues

If you are unsure how your domain or URL is configured, your hosting provider or server administrator should be consulted.

    Test Installation

In addition to your live installation, you are permitted one test instance.

To use your license for a test installation, you must append the following to your license key:

    -TESTINSTALL

    Example:

    • Live license key:

      000-0000-000
    • Test installation key:

      000-0000-000-TESTINSTALL
