A couple of members have reported that 'Quote Selection' has been unreliable of late. This mirrors my own experience. The collective perception is that this has been a problem for some weeks; maybe a couple of months - it is hard to be exact.

It is intermittent, and I think it occurs here too - though maybe not as intermittent as my site. I'll keep testing to better determine if it is truly occurring here as we as at my site. When text is highlighted, the Quote Selection otten fails to display.

Where there any changes to the code in the 1-2 month time frame which might affect Quote Selection?

To add: Except for a couple of older apps (which I have not updated), I just disabled apps at my site. The bug seemed unchanged. There (and here), Quote Selection mostly fails when first visiting the page (or upon refresh), but usually works after the first failed attempt.

I haven't personally seen any issues with it, it reliably shows for me.

What browser/device are you using?

Usually, Firefox. I'll check with the two members.

On a community I help manage, we received the same issues. All issues where resolved when they cleared their cache. Although, this was after a domain change. Just throwing it in.

I can confirm, this condition of hit or miss has been present for at least 6 months, if not longer.

If you just dismiss it and redo it though, it generally takes.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I clear the cache fairly often for various reasons. It is not the cause of our problems.

It is entirely possible that this first occurred six months ago. Because it is intermittent, and generally takes after the first attempt, I just worked around it and somewhat forgot about it. My recollection is that I noticed this after an update, but I do not know which one.
