Version 5 on cloud

Featured Replies

We're running the latest version 4.7.xx on cloud, and have been seeing a message in admin CP about upgrading to version 5 for about a month now, which I keep closing so that I can use the site.

Now that I have some time to look at this I can't find the message. Can anyone tell me what we have to do to upgrade our cloud-hosted solution to V5 (I'm assuming we have to upgrade to V5 - I'd rather stay V4)?

I understand that php embeds are no longer available; I've converted all of these. I just need our user accounts, forums, articles/databases and themes to not be broken.

regards
David

v4 will not be supported, even for security after this year. So the advice would be to upgrade as soon as you can, and at some point you would indeed be forced to upgrade. Probably after we stop support.

Im not sure what you mean by PHP embeds here. Its likely you can do things in other manners though, as it seems you have already found.

Accounts, forums, and arcticle databases will come over fine. It may be you want to tweak the layout of the articles page if you have customised. The theme will be reset to default. You would need a completely new one for version 5 as its been completely rewritten. It would be worth having a look here, as most people tend to do their own these days with the new tools available

Thank you for the reply.

At the moment I'm struggling to work out how to start the upgrade... the link in the admin CP appears to just take me to the "manage your purchases" page?

Please create a ticket and we can take a look at that for you

I myself am just finding the solid time to look at the requirements of v5 however it also looks like there will be a doubling in price over our current Super 65 plan. This is less than ideal.
