Instructions: How to Add a Disclaimer Link to the Footer Area

Featured Replies

This relates to another topic, but I though it might be useful for some if I posted instructions (as a topic) for adding a a disclaimer (link) to our website footers.

Re: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/481946-best-practice-to-display-a-disclaimer/

The suggestions in above topic are inadequate, and are certainly far from optimal.

Adding a Footer Link

ACP > Customization > Themes > (theme) > Theme Designer: Templates > Create New Template

Name: Additional Footer Links (or whatever suits you)
Type: Hook
Hook Application: System
System: front/global/footer
Hook target: links
Hook type: before the closing tag
Content: <li><a target="_blank" href="https://website.com/disclaimer/">Disclaimer</a></li>

Of course, edit the link URL to suit in the above.

Creating the Disclaimer Page

ACP > Pages > Add Page > Content Editor: Page Editor

Be sure that the page 'filename' matches the page in the URL (disclaimer, in my example, above)

You will probably select 'Use suite HTML wrapper'.

Be sure to provide page access permission for (all) your usergroups.

Once you have created the page, visit it and use the Page Editor to add your disclaimer content.
