Like so many have said, I also support the model that Invision is headed with its hosted cloud offering, and most of us are commercial forum operators and appreciate the business necessity for revenue and hopefully profit.
Many of us have also established that the current Cloud offering is not suitable for us, or cost prohibitive with what we have invested already in servers. I couldn't switch from one to another because of other necessities with our server and architecture. So it would be more than doubling our expenses to even consider it, not to mention custom apps/plugins some of us need to do what we do - which we also couldn't do on cloud.
What I would love to see is a compromise. Look at what some of us spend/have spent in the Marketplace though. We don't mind paid bolt ons and add ons. Many of us would be prepared to pay for these new features. In the marketplace via AdminCP, I wouldn't hesitate hitting a subscribe button on certain features and paying a monthly fee for some of them. This is revenue that is currently being lost for Invision by the self-hosted customers that are never going to migrate to Cloud.
Similarly, when it comes to support, which I often need - I once sang Invision's praises about how efficient and comprehensive Support was on this platform. I even at times wondered how they did it, so cheaply. So I could see why they had to change these processes. But like my above suggestion, why not add either a paid ongoing Support plan, or an ad-hoc paid Priority support option. Either of those I would also subscribe to. My recent support issue took 12 days to get a response with - glad it was only a small bug affecting the user experience in our community. But, in Invision's defence, I'm only paying them $85 every 6 months so you get what you pay for. But that just highlights the problem in my opinion. Either put up the self-hosted fee based on support's estimated costs are (you've got the data) and you'll win on some and lose on others, or offer a dedicated support package and charge accordingly.
I do hope there are some changes implemented in regards to the above because it's clear there is a growing discontent in the self-hosted community. After nearly 20 years as a customer, I myself am reluctant to invest any further and am sad to admit I have more recently started investigations into alternative long term alternatives - though my preference it to remain loyal but with a workable solution for both the provider and the consumer found.

Please offer a solution to enable stuff like this for self hosters. If the concern is server resources; perhaps have an "advanced features" add-on and make it clear you need to have control of your own box of a VPS to use it. I will /never/ migrate to the cloud as I need control of my own box. There are many loyal long-term customers at risk of being lost with this direction.

From what I understand only for communities with a someone paid plan. So this not be available for self-hosted instances.
By the way, they should mark these types of articles with the information that the features are only available to CLOUD users.

It's not big ask - from AlexWebsites, Adriano and many others to clearly indicate in blog title - Cloud only feature.

I have to agree with this. Just too expensive with no discounts for multiple cloud licenses. As a self hosted user with 8 licenses, I have not added a new IPS license in a while because of this direction or lack of any major price changes, only increases. It’s much more beneficial for me to run my own server for all my licenses. They all share resources on my platform. Doing the math, if self hosted goes away, I’ll be forced to leave and switch platforms. No question about it.

Perhaps a good time to survey your self-hosted customers, asking what features they would like, what they would pay and so on.
I can understand that self-hosted licenses have dropped off, and that would be because of the rise in alternative solutions. Pricing could likely be set according to costs and expected demand. Offer early adopter pricing for those of who are committed to IPS long term? Just ideas. I would like to see actual discussion and a potential long term solution to what many of us fear is coming sooner or later.

I've been a client of IPS for about 17 years, and I am disappointed of the direction they are going in now. They are creating new features for their cloud clients even though they have several bugs that have gone unfixed for months. I haven't renewed my license because I feel like an idiot for paying for something that, after 17 years, I might not be allowed to use.

If this trend continuous, need to find options to migrate to Xenforo or other forum applications.
Forcing self hosted clients, so that we can use trending block is just crazy in my book. Apologies saying as I see it. It's ok to make profit but their is border line between profitable business vs RIP off business and I am feeling, it's later for being Self Hosted licenses if this trend continuous.
As many others said above, not paying 549$/month  for trend block.

Yes we will be preparing for the inevitability of this in the future sadly. I have been a big fan on Invision dating back our our DJ community forums, when we took over our current community it was VB and we switched to IPB not long after.
The amount we are going to have to invest in development still does not offset the monthly cost for us to have the features we would want. Our community is only about 14k members.
We have a dedicated server that we use for more than just our community, so paying for another hosted service just does not make sense. Especially since we have full control of our environment.
