Do we have a list of people who have jumped ship? Thankfully @Adriano Faria has taken over a lot of apps over the years, which is great to see.

    Some nice ideas there.
I’m not a fan of minimizing the user info in the topic view though. The personal touch of clearly seeing who you are interacting with is getting more important these days, not less. If anything, this view should only be triggered if there is not enough space, not in full desktop view. As a typographer, the example screenshot is painful to look at.  3 posts with just one or two lines each that are waaaaaaaay too long for comfortable reading. This was always a problem with a default IPS installations but now it was made worse, not better. If the user info remains to the side, it also improves the readability of the post content.

I gotta say, this is a pain.  I have to contact each provider, hope they have a site, then register, then keep up with many different sites.
Over time, there will be fewer and fewer providers, eventually most of them will probably give up.  Especially the ones that created one or two fun apps.

I would have hoped for a 6 month notice period to be honest not 2 1/2 months.
Considering we cant download addons any more other than through admincp we cant even back up for a wayward plugin dev who is sick or unable to handle the change in 2 months.
Please at least let us download what we own to self install for now.

So unless I'm missing something, this means that if a developer doesn't have or is somehow unable to start their own independent website then they have no way to maintain their apps/plugins?

Really?  I'm no expert but I find the last part of this sentence hard to believe given that there are many gaps in IPB functionality which necessitated the Marketplace community in the first place.

Ah, those would still show in your support area and give the opportunity to run them automatically. If you see them repeatidly though, you should report them 🙂

I have had this happen, same user name and email address. Doesn’t happen that often and have never been able to pin point why it happens. My server runs fast but may be slow connection on members side.

@Stuart Silvester We understand that you are currently working on two versions 4.x and 5.x simultaneously, but please test the new release properly - before releasing it. Too many bugs and omissions for one release. 🙏 Have a nice weekend.

Ha ha. Valid invoices. I develop and sell software myself, so I don't play games with "not paying until I need an update."
Oh bite me. The cost is $10 plus $10 every three months. That's subscription pricing, and I understand it's to fund future development. If you don't pay until you "need" an upgrade, I would suggest that you're abusing the system and using it in a way that's not intended.
Do you only pay your IPS subscription price when it's got a major upgrade, or do you pay every six months (or whenever)?

MariaDB: I am using version 10.11.2 without any issues.
PHP: 8.0 or 8.1 is the current IPS supported versions.
Redis: Version 6 according to IPS because version 7 is not yet support by PHPRedis extension, but I am using version 7 without any issues.
Elasticsearch: At least version 7.2.0, but less than version 8.0.0.
Before update make sure you disable all third-party plugins and app, and before enabling them back to make sure you update them to the latest version where they are compatible with PHP 8 and support IPS 4.7.

My apologies again from dropping the ball with this issue. It really isn't our normal level of service and we're reviewing processes to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Well, my main goal is to trigger an alarm about the decline in the support offered by IPS and wonder if any other members have the same issues.
If I, who stayed with IPS for 14 years, get ignored, I can't imagine what would happen to new members. Or maybe only we, the old members, or me, get ignored. Who knows.
Mate. I've seen your replies to other topics. You primarily offer advanced support here in the topics rather than asking questions. Sorry but the truth is that we are not in the same boat here.
Glad to find this situation amusing you. Most probably because you're not in my shoes. What I find not funny is that IPS staff said that I do not receive emails, and that's it; case closed, leaving me hanging.
But I receive emails with invoices that need to be paid.

Anyway. I've raised the alarm now the ball is in the IPS yard. If they continue to ignore the situation again, I will get my answer and act accordingly.

Just to double-check, if I wanted to give away my site to a new owner. How would one do that? Do they need to buy a whole new license? What's the purpose behind this? I may need to transfer one of my sites to a new owner in the future, and it would be good to know what to expect. Thank you for your time.

This has happened in the past, Marc. A dormant licence isn't going to earn you anything. But, someone willing to take it over and take up the payments should surely not be discouraged. If both parties share information with IPS, and account name/email are removed and then readded, then why wouldn't you accommodate that?

Great to see its kind of on the to do list. I posted about this in a different topic here,
and I still believe a system task/s used to create dynamic templates would address a lot of these one-size doesn't fit all related issues in terms of critical CSS and optimised CSS.
The current custom lazy loading approach is a quick fix (to switch to use the widely adopted and simple loading='lazy' tag and either remove or switch the current but clunky method to optionally support legacy browsers that doesn't support the loading tag). Similarly image optimisation in terms of system task-based Local WebP generation on servers that support it by having the relevant libraries available.
Actually, thinking about it, that presents a timely opportunity to address the heinous issue of IPS deleting original uploaded image resources after copying them to AWS S3; that's really bad practice unless the admin opts in to transferring to save storage space. Retaining your media library should be the default.
    ...
It quite annoys me when the proverbial we/I contribute to the bottomless pit known as the IPS feedback forum and never receive an IPS Team response, of any fashion. I'm not talking about just obscure or niche requests for individual sites, some relate to form accessibility improvements, oversights like referring to font weights in CSS that have never been called in the HTML etc.
A topic in a client feedback forum should NEVER go unanswered or unacknowledged. A person in the IPS team should be tasked with monitoring your feedback forum to at least acknowledge feedback or requests and then flag them back to your relevant team.

Page speed aside, there was really no need to remove the core CSS from the templates. I agree that most users do not need it so they would of course simply ignore it; but the ones that do need it had the option to view, understand, learn and modify if they wanted to.
CSS is basically harmless and any issue that may come up we could just restore the file to the original version so this shouldn't strain IPS support.
Basically: us self-hosters are already getting hammered with the cloud only features. There's no need to remove features too now.

Hey....  I resemble that remark!  I remember when 3.4 was the new hawtness.
    Picture it...  Sicilly...  2012....

The UK had informed the WHO of a novel coronavirus case originating out of Saudi Arabia (what would later be known as MERS). The largest Atlantic hurricane on record at the time, Hurricane Sandy, devastated the east coast of the US. Vladimir Putin was elected as President of Russia and Barack Obama was re-elected as President of the US.   And in a small, quiet town...  @Charles announced the best version of IPB ever made up to date.... version 3.4!

Your site speed is absolutely horrid...the only way I've been able to make my site get even average speed scores has been through extensive modification of CSS--now you've removed this ability from my--WHY??!!
