I've added your request to our internal list for discussion.

You can still run the group check and include the necessary js/css files, or set the JS variables only when it’s needed.

For what it's worth, I too have a few clients who have modified the event form (I can think of 3 right off the bat, but there are probably more). And I already have a pretty good idea how I'll handle that.
    Hope that helps a little?

When we designed the development toolkit (there were a few of us involved in these discussions), we looked at a very large sample size of modifications to see what we needed to accommodate. There were quite a few instances where a conversation started with "people shouldn't do X" and then one of us said "but what about in a scenario where ____?"
I have been doing a feature check on all my private clients (not a small number) to see what is and is not still doable, to see who will need a heads up that things won't work the same way in v5, etc. The majority will be fine.
The reality is, that when you take the full toolkit into account, with a little (not even a lot) of creativity, you can still do most things.

Considered and decided against it faster than a quantum computer could have managed it.

3rd party devs don't know that for sure yet. We haven't finished discussing the development tools, so they really can't tell what will and will not work. Most things are still doable. Some things are not. It's "wait and see" right now.

    Already in v5.
I think the sensible thing to do is wait for all the news of v5 to come out and then make an informed decision on your future. Trying to extrapolate v5 from a few dev blogs may lead to rash decisions.
I'd love to keep you as a customer, but if you do wish to move to xF then on the plus side you won't need to worry about new versions and there being significant changes in your future. 😄

At the moment it's only first or last but we've been discussing this internally.

Since it's a Raffle item, where you're in control of the class, you can do whatever you want with the menu.
But for other applications, where you'll have to use the UIItem Extension, you're able to place it at the beginning or end

I can think of other ways to accomplish this, but we're not at a point where I can get into how without causing confusion. Suffice it to say, I do think it's still possible.

This can be handled with a Member listener onProfileUpdate (change to pp_last_visitors)
    This as well. (members_disable_pm)
This one I'll add to the list for discussion.

I typed "The PHP programming language crying" into an AI image generator and all it gave me was a sullen, cosplaying Esther. BTW, next concert flyer? This.

    1. You should all cool down and wait for the upcoming news and also the final product before getting in such a  panic rage.
    2. Please see my reply in the SEO topic:
    3. See the first point. We're listening to feedback and implementing changes based on it, just like Esther and Matt implemented changes today based on the provided feedback.
    4. I think you're all way too scared.
There's still so much that can be done, it's 2023, and there are other ways and solutions than to edit files..
ALPACAS! I'll repeat very very slowly just for you: AL PA CAS

We literally changed code this morning because of your feedback on adding a listener to base classes. 🤔

That will be dealt with in UIExtensions. We're wrapping some things up on those before the blog entry, but it's coming.
We will be removing the block on base classes and you'll be able to add listeners to \IPS\Content\Item (or Comment or Review).

I'm sure there are others who have found in nice to get a glimpse 🙂 No matter which way we do this, releasing everything in a single blog would just be too much. And actually, we announced one yesterday, then release another today. These things are always a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" kind of thing. If we say nothing, some dont like it, if we say something, some wont like it.
There's more to come, as mentioned.

Listeners is just one tool in the box. I would suggest waiting until you see the full structure before worrying about what you can and cannot do.
