  1. For the record, birthday was not available on registration page in 2.3 either.

Yes, I've noticed that the IPB 3 limiting myself and I can not implement all things.
This but should not be an argument not to do it for 3.x? I do not understand why I can not be determined as an administrator on this Field, but to everybody else? I am responsible for my forum? I do not want, that a developers with such restrictions one root administrator for my forum is. There are many ways and reasons why they might need such capabilities for their forum and there are some other people here who also want this feature. I would be grateful if they could implement it! %7Boption%7D
  2. There is no safe forum!
Each forum is only safe as long until someone proves the contrary.
Many people make no effort to find ways to hack into.
Therefore so many people think a forum is safe.
A forum is certainly = the earth is a Disc!

  3. For me, this is nothing more than attempt to holders of Lifetime License to pay to move. You should all consider whether it makes any sense at all such a licensing policy to accept. I think more to a sale of my license as a customer continues to be IPS. It will not be better in the future! The whole reminds me of the past, as has by said that IPB would always be free. Then came but the licensing requirement. When I think of how many forces with IP Nexus was wasted, then I can not understand why lifetime-Licences should pay for Additional services. She have already familiar with the sale of licenses paid. I will in the coming days to make a decision, it's now a pain threshold reached!

  4. @Patrick Shaw

The key word in my statement is 'regular' paying customers. Perpetual or Lifetime licenses aren't offered anymore, and haven't been in years; they're not the norm anymore. IPS has done more than most companies would with such customers. As stated, they're not taking anything away from customers with these licenses, your forums will continue to operate just as they do today. They're just offering something completely new and only giving it to the folks who use the only licenses they offer now, I don't think that's such a terrible thing. People who own Perpetual or Lifetime licenses (of which I am also one) have a pretty good thing that a lot of others wish they could get, it's kind of greedy to want even more than the benefits you already get IMO.

That is the problem. Who decides which performance is within the license and what is outside? You can do what they want and more and more services than do non-license sell. Belief that customers really buy two licenses? A lifetime license and a Prepertual Lizenz for the same Product just so they have no disadvantages compared to the normal license? That you can not really be serious!

  5. That argument is on pretty shaky ground. You might, in that case, start charging extra for FURLs, AJAX skins, or any other progression in the software... as far as I'm concerned, my license entitles me to use IPB and it's features in all future versions, forever... You're moving the goal posts in order to sheppard legacy customers into your newer pricing bracket...

... and yes, I do pay my annual support fee already.

I also address these concerns and I see all this very critical!

  6. Vbulletin has moved all customer feedback threads to a non-public forum so I can't link any threads. But let me tell you what's going on in that private forum - VB users are very angry and are becoming more and more vocal about it. VB staff are becoming very heavy-handed in moderating that forum. Essentially, dissent is no longer tolerated and constructive discussions about customer needs are a thing of the past.

So IPB - keep it up with the great communication, friendly customer support, and great product offerings and you may just see a mass-exodus to your products.

A whole range of issues. The product itself has had little meaningful development for the last couple of years. The photo gallery and groups features have very poor integration with the forum. Blog product is widely criticized for many faults. Search functionality really doesnt work at all for very large forums. VB is very difficult to integrate with third party applications and VB will not reveal if it has any plans for a product like IPB's converge. There is no product roadmap that details what the future holds for development and features. There is no first party or third party professional developers network for VB making professional, business level support difficult or impossible to find.

What we do know is that the price of VB is going up (again), long time VB developers are leaving the company, and customer complaints are being dealt with very harshly in the forums.

There is more, but thats what I came up with off the top of my head.

The developers of VB do only what they want and not what their customers want. Requests from customers are ignored. So something will eventually be punished. A DJ may also not only the music to play, what he likes, but he needs to play to what his customers like to hear. If he does not, he will have no more success. It also came with VB. Added to this is that the VB development in recent years has overslept. I have no Pity with VB. When you are with its clients handled, then it deserves nothing else!
  7. A member in my IPB 3 forum has me instructed that I be settings in the Profile Information make should for him.
I can not make this settings for him?
    Settings for

    "Enable Profile Comments"
"Show my friends in my profile"
"Show X latest visitors on my profile?"

There should be at least the basic settings for these things in the ACP be selectable can.
When A member in my forum can not find the Settings, this understand or need help, I can not help?

  8. There are lots of little "annoying" bugs but we generally save patches for critical bugs.

There are not alone only lots of little "annoying" bugs. Some things are not properly considered. See you this Discussion in the Bug Tracker:

    http://forums.invisionpower.com/tracker/issue-12137-custom-profile-fields-error/
    http://forums.invisionpower.com/tracker/issue-13551-costum-profil-fields-funktion-error/

I can not make a Upgrade from IPB 2.3.6 of IPB 3.0 and must waiting to IPB 3.1 until the error is resolved. This ist not OK. They exclude me from further use of the IPB 3.0 out. You have made changes to the custom Profil Fields, without the user from IPB 2.3.6 to think.

  9. Yeah, that's a feature.

I'm expanding that right now to include:

Moderator Preview [yes/no ] until [X] [approved posts / days since joining]

Max posts per 24 hours [X] until [X] [approved posts / days since joining]

This will allow you to moderator preview all posts until the user has been a member for, say, a week OR until they have 10 approved posts.

Also, you can limit the number of posts they can make.

Additionally, as we've noticed here, humans sign up with a normal looking name so the admin validates them. Then they go in and change their display name to something like 'Cheap Meds'. To help combat this, we're also adding options to not allow signature editing / display name changing until they reach X approved posts OR they've been a member for X days.

    All per group.

I suspect there will be new features against spam boots in next beta?
  10. I think a major Relesse like IPB 3.0 should be in error judged differently than a point release. It speaks for IPS, the courage that they had such a big change from daring. There are other companies that are afraid of such steps and do not represent the future. I am sure that IPB 3.0 Final good stability will be.
