I actually agree, and we have things we want to do to modernise the interfaces to encourage more contributions to the discussions. Insta-style stories don't fit into the framework of those ideas.

It's not a terrible idea, but it's something 90% of communities wouldn't use, just like status updates.

    There's a few barriers here.
The technical: to allow 'stories' to be posted, you'll need a fair bit of storage for the videos, you'll also need a queued system to take in raw video and transcribe it into a more friendly and compressed format which is beyond the reach for most self-hosted sites.

The strategic. No one comes here to see what I'm up to. They come here for help with their Invision Communities, or they come here to post advice for others, or to learn how to manage their communities.

Forums are discussion led platforms. The discussion is the star.
Social media are people led platforms. The person is the star.

Allowing random members to upload stories about what they're doing and so on cross-circuits the purpose of a discussion led platform.

Social media is great at being social medial. Forums are great at being forums.

I'm in this for the long haul. I came to Invision when I realized, pretty quickly, that free options are wholly unsuitable for the longevity I need. When your "free" forum disappears after all you've put into it, you'll have absolutely no recourse. With a paid option there is accountability. Invision has stability and a track record you can count on.

@Matt,Hopefully that's one more you can use. I'd really like to see that promised pic!

It looked to be a tall order, creating a site in another language, allowing people to sign in with Facebook or Twitter, and customising the appearance and functionality. Invision Community came with an extendable stepladder. Job done!

    Hi all,
I have a request that will only take a few minutes of your time, and will give you something in return.
We're finally getting around to creating books and guides to help new customers get comfortable on the Invision Community platform.
I'm looking for a few positive quotes and 'soundbites' we can use on a few pages around the site, on social media and in these guides.
Hopefully you've got nice things to say. @LaCollision gave us a very nice quote a while back.
    So things like:
That sort of thing. If you have a specific use for Invision Community, then we'd love to hear from you.
If you are happy to leave a comment, please also leave your name and URL to your site.
If the site is safe for work, then we'll link back to it when using any quotes on our site and on social media.
We get a fairly health bit of traffic so I'm sure you'll get a good number of click throughs too.
If we get 20 useable quotes, I'll post an exclusive picture of Charles and Lindy holding a hotdog from 2008. I did not seek their permission before making this promise.
    Thanks for reading!

Thanks Matt, Looking forward to them.
Screencasts (tutorials) work great too if you have the time.
Or If you create a place to put them I'd be happy to record my screen as I learn and then post what I've learned for others.
I've been using WP for years and my frustraction with Invision is the User (me) lol.  I know it's just another learning curve I have to go through, I'm guessing the frustration is an age thing 🙂
Looking forward to finishing my site.  I know the real work will come later (I listened to the last podcast interview you did and enjoyed and found it very informative - Thanks)
Soon, I'll give you an awesome sound bite ... soon, but probably not soon enough.
FYI, I've been searching for years for software like this and I gave WPMU Dev a ton of money over the years as well other plugin and theme companies.  I almost signed up over the past year with Brilliant Directories (came very close) and Member Mouse, MemberPress and others from Theme Forest.  Just as I was about to go click (with the visa) something stopped me and you guys showed up on the next google search and so far I'm glad you did.  I like what I see
    Cheers!

Invision Community remains under active development, support and extensive interest in (year_name) currently 2019.
IPS4 is my starting point to build a lasting community of engagement and dedication. Where features end, communities on Invision begins.

Are you still looking for quotes?  I'm guessing you didn't get 20 quotes as I don't see the hotdog photo in this thread.

Given that it was only announced last night, we probably need a little more time to find out the details.

If it's something we can bring to Invision Community, we will do.

Sales figures mean nothing sadly. There's little point investing a lot of energy into a system that does not work on one of the top two phone platforms.
I think we're on Web 5.0 by now.

I would agree, other than push notifications which require an app for iOS.

Matt got a reaction from Marquinhos in Why not offer push notifications solution
For push notifications on iPhone, you need an app downloadable from the App Store. There's no way to push notifications to iPhones in any other way.

It's very much on our RADAR. Details are sketchy right now and it's not being beta tested until summer, so we're watching closely.
