Are you seeing anything in your uploads/logs folder? Also, have you checked permissions on the login user being used on the database to ensure there is full access.

This is not to provide feedback on the feedback (how meta!), but to provide some conceptual philosophy around communities vs social media for other Invision Community owners.
Social media, at its philosophical core, is meant to be 1-to-many. Its a single user broadcasting his thoughts or feedback at large to the world ("look at this interesting thing I did today!"). It is most similar to Status Updates in IPS.
Forums are meant to be many-to-many. It's many users who publish their collective thoughts ("what do you think about X?"). When you enter the forums, there is an intrinsic understanding that you agree to the public discourse, whether you agree with the opinions or not. You voluntarily opted in to the community at large.
I view it like a workplace. You may not like all of your coworkers, but you coexist because you have a unified and larger purpose.
Targeted ignores at one person should be applied only in areas where the publication of content is meant to be 1-to-many. This means areas such as: personal messages, status updates, private albums, private blogs.
Targeted ignores in other areas, such as forums, don't make sense. Just because you ignore a person doesn't mean that his contribution to the conversation - and the quotes and requotes and related conversation - will stop. The conversation continues, and the contribution is part of the public discourse.
In a community, the philosophy of ignore should be held to the standard of the community level, not the single user level. Does the user break the community standards that are universal to all members? This standard is in contrast to: do I personally like or want to tolerate this other person?
On a final note, I want to emphasize that i share these thoughts not because I'm trying to stop any feedback of Ignore. There are some great suggestions in there! But I also think community managers need to not let technology be the go-to fix of human behavior all of them time. Community management is ultimately people management more than tech management. Sometimes we need to talk - openly and bravely - about tolerating people we don't like in the pursuit and conversation of a larger goal.

This would not be the recommended way of doing it, and to be honest has unnecessary steps. You could just as easily upload the files, add your conf_global.php file, and upgrade.

Miss_B got a reaction from Joey_M in How to stop DOS Attacks - 10+ login requests from one IP per second, for hours on end
As it happened past week I had coded an app for someone who had the same issue like you do, but using a different software. The app recorded all non action visits (aka board index, individual boards and topics) from an IP address within the session data. If the visitor was recorded as having more hits than a specified number of times per minutes, the app placed an automatically ban in the .htaccess file. The default was set for one hit every 2 seconds which is a reasonable time frame for non robot actions.
This helped a lot for them. If you are interested I can code it for Ipb too for a fee. Please contact me in private should you be interested to have the app developed for your forum.

Miss_B reacted to dal in OutOfRangeException errors in log
For anyone else experiencing this - I've finally found a fix.
The issue was due to the 'bimchatbox' application not uninstalling properly - it left entries in the 'ibf_widget_areas' table labelled 'announcements' which stayed there after the application was removed.
Upon every page view, the forum tried to load up the widget but couldn't because the application wasn't there any more, thus generating one error in the log for every view.
Manually removing these entries from the database table solved the problem.

Several developers have opted in to the Providers designation, which provides a reasonable level of trust within the IPS ecosystem. You'll recognize many of the same names who have been around for years.
When you do buy third party mods or themes, one of the easiest things you can do is check that they're a Provider.

Miss_B reacted to Jim M in IPB 5 upgradeable from 4
We will make announcements on what this will look like as we get closer to version 5 being available to the public. Right now, our new Classic license would be required but the path to upgrade an existing self-hosted license is not something we have released yet. Version 5 is still in development so no need to worry about that just yet. Additionally, version 4, will be supported for some time after version 5 is released. We don't want our customers feeling panicked about this new version.

Miss_B reacted to DawPi in Is anyone able to help as to what this hook error is?
The reason why it crashed I don't know - I think it must be something related to ekforum's board installation, but I've removed particular hook file and recreated it. Works.

Miss_B got a reaction from Joel R in Is anyone able to help as to what this hook error is?
Do you mean that you solved the issue? That's great. Do you mind sharing the solution as it will help other users as well who might run into the same issue as well.
