Includes reaction. Not notification. But we can add this later. Now, we want to make sure the comment extension works generally, then we'll work on its detail. You can take a look and test in on my demo site.
the comment on the story app is different from another apps of IPS. We had to implement this extension in another way.

The comment extension is ready. It is currently installed and active on my demo site. Before uploading the new version, as you know the review may take time, so it is better to test it. I am testing it. If you have time, please test it on my demo site and PM me your comments and possible problems so I can look into them.

It should be up to community managers to decide who sees the value in these numbers. I can’t think of a single reason this information should be broadcast to the world on all communities.

I’d love an option to disable public view counts for articles and even forum topics.

We’ve become accustomed to seeing this because it has been around forever, but I think it’s detrimental to a community. Encouraging everyone to participate can be really tough for those whose topics or blog posts don’t get many views. People get discouraged easily.

Plus, view counts play into the whole “more followers is the goal” ideology, rather than good content and community are the goal.

Awesome! I'll wait for the next news so, I have some ideas for that, if you're interested in listening.

    No, but I think that's a good idea .
I'm working on the comment extension for the stories. It will be released this weekend, after that I'll work on the idea .

They also have the size/scale AND the budget for it in terms of people and money. 🙂
Thats like saying a little league baseball team should be able to do something simply because a professional league baseball team can.

I can see why and agree that it makes sense to pull IPS out of the transaction. What would be nice is if there was a better aggregated resource discovery tool. Nothing that handled the sale… just discovery.

I was disappointed when I first heard about this. After reading all the posts in this topic I understand the decision and I feel more hopeful.
I'm glad developers will have more freedom. I didn't like the direction Invision was going with forcing installations from the MarketPlace in the AdminCP. I'd rather have the option of getting apps directly from the developers, but I didn't before because developers couldn't promote their websites within the Marketplace. It was hard to tell who actively supported products on their own website. I also like that developers will be able to make apps that more directly compete with other apps or restore removed features. I like that developers can quickly release bug fixes without waiting days for IPS to approve it.
I would still like a way to quickly search for modifications without visiting dozens of websites, but I think an external website can work quite well. I used to use vBulletin before they tanked, and their modification directory was hosted on a separate domain. It was an active community before version 5. I think anyone who cared about modifying their software could easily find it if they tried. That one was a simple forum, but I imagine one using IPS applications will be more robust.
As a customer, I'll continue to purchase and support apps from third-party devs. I hope that other customers will too and that the developers will be motivated enough to maintain their apps elsewhere.

Why everyone speaking about exploits form 3rd party developers still? When someone did something like this? This is a definite exaggeration and I ask you to stop such claims.

As a developer who has years of development experience and I am familiar with various techs that I could use in the development of apps but I didn't due to their limitations by IPS. I am sure that this method will help to make IPS more powerful and eventually users will use it and who will have a powerful board. Also, this method increases the competition between developers, and better apps are produced. If you look at other platforms and CMSs like WordPress, you will see that there are many developers for an app and you can choose the best one after comparing them. Many of the apps in the market can be better developed and released to the public, but considering that other developers have done it, I didn't do it so it doesn't affect their sales.
For example, I was recently working on an LMS project, which was quite similar to the apps available in WordPress and other CMSs. When I found out that IPS itself had published the same, so I stopped the development, because I didn't know if this app would get permission to publish after the completion of the project. But I can continue to develop them now. also, I have made a lot of custom apps and plugins (+70) that I could publish in the market according to the agreement I had with the clients, but I didn't take the risk due to IPS restrictions, and now I'm thinking about publishing them. there are even apps whose value is less than $10 and some do not need renewal. We can manage them in this way.

3rd party devs are still able to provide such update checks and notifications.
TBH, they are now even able to implement much better approaches which would have probably been forbidden in our marketplace because of our guidelines.
License checks, direct download from github for people with a license, etc..

I would like to see real-life examples of communities using the Story addon. As there are almost 40 purchases, I'm sure a couple of community owners here use it.
    So please share the URLS!

2-> yes, you can specify which groups can use, view
3-> not now .  But if we check in the future and it is possible, we will definitely do it, but we are not sure if it will be implemented.
