  1. Hi, I have just bought this application and installed it on our test site. I configured it so that it was available to the site team and as soon as I tried to refresh the test site, the whole thing became inaccessible. As soon as I deactivated your application, then the test site started working as normal. https://www.cagtest.co.uk/
  2. Yes, looks very interesting but more control is definitely needed. For instance it would be very useful for site team simply to leave notes for other members of the site team without any of the members including the topic author being able to see.
  3. That there could be hundreds of people who want to view it and many of them may well have something useful to say. I'm suggesting something which is quick to use – from the front and and can be used on the fly
  4. But the resource by @DawPi doesn't allow you to prevent somebody from posting but at the same time allow them to view the topic content. If the person is banned using the resource then they can't post but they can't view either.
  5. Yes that's what I thought about the suggestion by Daniel. I couldn't really understand how it would facilitate individual targeting. Thanks for the heads up on your resource. It looks as if it will do what I have suggested – although it would be nice if it could simply be triggered from the front end
  6. Thank you. I've had a look and it's pretty well exactly what we need. I'll get a copy.
  7. That looks like the kind of thing. However I'm not completely sure about how it works. Do you the deselect the follower from the front end or do you have to go to admin CP? Can you deselect a single follower from a single topic?
  8. Sorry could you explain that please
  9. There is an excellent plug-in by @DawPi which allows site team to ban particular individuals from a topic. It's very helpful when you get troublemakers around – and unfortunately we do because a lot of the things we deal with are very controversial. We have some very important discussions going – generally speaking about people's legal rights and also about the legal actions that we are helping them take – and all too often, these discussions tend to get hijacked or diverted by people coming in with all sorts of unhelpful comments. Of course we could simply ban those people from viewing the discussion using the plug-in by @DawPi but this seems a little Draconian because there are often very useful things for people to learn from the topic. What would be really nice would be to have a spectator only function so that where there is a danger of a discussion being derailed, one could either choose to include certain people as being able to contribute to the discussion – or exclude particular individuals from taking part in a discussion – but all without preventing them having access to the topic at all.
  10. At the moment, the site team can remove followers of my a particular topic. However it's all or nothing. It would be very nice to be able to remove followers selectively so maybe there would be a little X next to each name and one can simply click on that X to remove that particular follower.I'm quite surprised that Invision haven't done this as standard. It would give site team is a bit more power to deal with unruly or unhelpful contributors
  11. I don't understand the logic of making it free so that you can always support it. I would have thought it would be the other way round – but maybe I have misunderstood something. Anyway, here's some feature requests: It would be nice to be able to configure some of the ticker messages as only being visible to certain people – unregistered, site team, ordinary users, people with more than XX posts or people with less than XX posts – et cetera. It would be nice to be able to put timers on to some of the messages so that the ticker is less repetitive. So some of the individual messages would appear for an hour every three or four hours and then replaced by another one which would go on for some designated amount of time – et cetera. Colour changes – automated. Date changes – so, for instance, a Christmas message comes up the day before Christmas and last a couple of days. New Year's messages, Valentine's Day messages – everything to be designated by the admin. The idea is to keep it dynamic so that there is often something new to look at. If anybody wants to see the ticker working then www.nationalconsumerservice.co.uk
  12. No. I'm not asking for a refund. It is excellent value I hope you are going to keep supporting it and developing it
  13. Well on one hand I feel resentful because I purchased it. But on the other hand, congratulations and everybody should take advantage of this because it is a fantastic plugin.
  14. Yes, we seem to have found the problem – all part of the problem so that switching off the application seems to get things going again but it doesn't explain what is wrong. There is clearly some coincidental clash here but trying to work it out is like trying to solve the Three Body Problem. Also, just to make it clear, I think that this is a glitch which is restricted particularly to our circumstances. I don't think that this problem has been reported by other people who have purchased this application and also I'd like to say that the developer has already reached out to us so there is no problem with the support.
  15. The account you have on file is www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk We don't have any other account with you. However, I followed the advice above and disabled all PM -related applications and plug-ins and suddenly it looks as if I have discovered the problem. It's an application called "restricted messenger". What is strange is that this is an application and clearly there is some clash with one of the plug-ins because when the plug-ins were disabled and the cache was newly cleared, it worked. As soon as any single plug-in was reactivated, it all fell over – until "restricted messenger" application was deactivated and after that everything works correctly. I see that this application was updated on 14 February. I can't remember when I applied the update that maybe it is a problem with the updated application – although the problem might be uniquely ours in that it clashes with one of our plug-ins. I'm putting a call out to the developer @A Zayed although as I've said, it probably isn't an inherent which – it simply an incompatibility which is may be unique to our forum
  16. Thanks. It still isn't working and I tried it with a different account and that doesn't work either. I'll come back later with the other information you are suggesting that I get
  17. Thanks for this reply. I've tried re-enabling the plug-ins one by one but as I've pointed out, as soon as I enable a single one – doesn't matter which one – the whole PM system falls over. Then to get the PM system working again, I have to disable everything – theme, applications, et cetera. Then re-enable them all except for the plug-ins and the PM starts working. Once again, as soon as I activate a single plug-in, the entire PM system stops working. It was all working fine until a couple of days ago – and I have no idea what has happened that it has suddenly stopped
  18. We need some urgent support. I've been onto the Invision site and it says that our email support has expired. I didn't know this and I'm not sure what to do about it. Our problem is that our private message system has stopped working. I have cleared the cache , disabled the applications and disabled the plug-ins et cetera. When I have disabled those it starts working. I then re-enable the theme, the applications and simply leave the plug-ins disabled. The private message system starts working. As soon as I re-enable any single plug-in – it doesn't matter which one – the private message system stops. When I disable that single plug-in, the private messaging system continues not to work and it requires a complete new clearing of cash, disabling of applications and re-enabling – to get the private messaging system working – but without any plug-ins So it seems to me that this is a bigger problem than simply a clash with a single plug-in. Something has gone badly wrong and it certainly well beyond my ability to understand what has gone wrong – let alone to fix it. Can you help please. As far as I can make out everything else seems to be working. I'm sure that I probably need to start the email support again – but I don't know how to do this and there doesn't seem to be any instructions for this on the Invision support area.
  19. Yes, we have sticky notes as well and that works great . It just seems to me to be a bit of a shame to have applications installed, which to a great extent are duplicating each other in the functionality
  20. Hi, is it possible to address these notes to a specific individual member?
  21. That's okay. We'll leave it for the moment – but if you are able to consider putting in the other features that I suggested when you next prepare an update, that would be great
  22. If you think there is a glitch in respect of the expand/collapse function which is generally applicable then I'm happy to help if that is useful to you. In terms of it being on our own forum, it's not such a problem that I want to spend time on it. However I would have thought that you would find it more useful to know about it than not know about it in case it occurs again somewhere. If you don't hear about this problem from anybody else then we can take it that it is something to do with our forum configuration. On the other hand, if the problem pops up somewhere else then at least you'll be able to say that you've heard about it before and that there might be a slightly more general issue to look at.
  23. I'm not criticising you or your work. I understand that every piece of software has its own glitches – and scope for improvements for new features and it simply part of the territory. As I've already said, the fact that the expand/collapse label doesn't work properly on our forum, is really not at all important. It's a very minor matter. What I'm finding it difficult is that it's a great idea. Really useful – but for whatever reason, people aren't noticing and so I'm simply suggesting new features. I know that you accepted the idea of a changing mouse cursor, I've now suggested additional feature increments. Obviously I don't do the kind of coding et cetera that you do so I don't know if it's possible – but they are simply feature suggestions that's all. The fact that anybody suggests additional features to the work that you do shouldn't be taken as criticism of your work. In fact it's all about collaboration by customers for moving the product on and making it even more powerful. All companies do this
  24. This is a great plug-in and very helpful for tidying up sub- forums where there are over-long list of pinned topics. However I'm afraid that it's causing confusion on our forum because people simply don't realise that there is an expandable/collapsible bar. Unfortunately the moment we had to disable the plug-in and I would suggest that not only should the mouse pointer change but also there will be great if the bar could change colour when one holds over it. Also as I mentioned before, the expand/collapse label is not changing after it has first been expanded – but that wouldn't really make a difference to the noticeability of the expand/collapse function. A different colour bar – and one which changes colour when the mouse cursor hovers over it and also a different mouse cursor – all of those would probably do the trick. After that, anybody who still doesn't notice it… I think we should all give up!
