Hello!
We, as licensed communities, are buying plugins and applications from IPS Marketplace.
From what I've just observed, you (IPS, Inc.) require your license buyers to renew IPS License everytime. For updates/upgrades of the platform seems ok, but why do you require the same thing for us in order to be allowed to update/upgrade or install new applications/plugins from IPS Marketplace.
Isn't that enough that we buy extensions/plugins separately from IPS License? We also have to renew them every time. Why do we have to renew IPS License too?
We buy:
IPS License
IPS Plugins
For accessing Marketplace and buy new extensions we need:
An active license for IPS
Money for applications/plugins which need updates/upgrades or an active license for them
WordPress and other Open-Source platforms are not actually the same. Now, I know that the business model of IPS it's different and it's not actually an Open-Source, but you require too much from your communities powered by Invision Community Software. We have to pay for everything. I think that's too harsh.
I suggest you to let your Invision Community license buyers renew/update/upgrade their applications/plugins without the need to update the version of IPS Software.
For example, I run IPS 4.5.3 on a community with its license expired for some days. I have to renew its license and then upgrade to the last IPS 4.5.4 in order to buy new extensions and have full privileges on IPS Marketplace.
Now I know that sometimes your need to upgrade the license it's fully motivated by the need for upgrade of the platform, but applications/plugins which load with no errors are the same for IPS 4.5.4 compared to IPS 4.5.3.
Thank you!
