GTServices reacted to Jordan Miller in Hump Day: 4.6.0 soft launch 🤫
Happy Hump Day, fam. Today's a big day (I know I always say that every Hump Day but... )
    *Says in a whisper* We've officially soft launched 4.6 🤫 🎉
It's a soft launch because, well, you know how things can go 🔥. However, we're pretty darn satisfied with this rollout. Possibly The best ever. A more formal announcement will arrive in the near future.
Right now, 4.6 is available for those on Cloud or those who've tested out our several Beta releases.
In case there's a glitch in the matrix, please make a backup of your community before upgrading.
If you need a refresher, @Matt laid out what is new in 4.6 in our latest blog post.
Speaking of, I asked our Director of Development to share his thoughts on this release:

🥲 In regards to 4.6, Matt said Invision Community "continues to build on its stable community platform by adding multiple new features."
Some of these include "anonymous posting; ideal for mental and physical health communities that can now allow their members to post questions anonymously, no-code integration with 3,000 other apps with Zapier, better mobile support, improved solved topic functionality and the brand new achievements system designed to nudge and reward good behavior and content."

"This release elevates your community experience with Invision Community significantly through multiple touch points."
We hope you guys enjoy 4.6 as much as we do!
Bringing this plane home... Since it's tradition, here are a list of updates since Beta 3 was released last week:
    - Fixed an issue where the expiration date for a Member Subscription would not update when editing the subscription purchase.
    - Fixed an issue where PayPal Billing Agreements / Subscriptions may not charge the correct value for sales tax.
    - Improved performance when generating comment widgets on large sites.
    - Fixed an issue where adding a theme setting to a parent theme didn't update children themes with the new setting
    - Fixed an issue where the SQL Toolbox couldn't display query results
    - Fixed an issue where the register button in the checkout process didn't open in a new tab if redirect registration is enabled.
    - Fixed an issue where the full upgrader would show an empty error box.
    - Fixed an issue where moving members after searching on a freeform custom field could return incorrect results.
     - Fixed an issue where online/recently browsing counts can be incorrect.
Thoughts on the official launch of 4.6?! Drop us a line in the comments. We'd love to hear from you!

Hey team, it's been 84 years (if you know you know), but...
We're excited to announce that Invision Community 4.6.0 Beta 1 is officially live! 🎉
@Matt has a blog post on the way detailing all of the amazing additions, including how many commits and lines of code that were changed. A lot. The answer is a lot.
Just to refresh your memories, some of the biggest changes/additions include:
Achievements (Points!) Web app and Push notifications Anonymous Posting when posting as a member Highlight Topics with replies from specific Groups Spam Improvements (And more!) It's available per request for Cloud customers or, if you're self-hosted, by manually downloading it.
Self-hosted: please make the necessary backups before upgrading. Because this is a Beta, please understand there is an inherent risk when upgrading.
The more information/feedback we get, the better we can optimize and improve things 🙂
If you find something and would like to submit a bug, please do so here.
Looking forward to hearing what you think! Sound off in the replies below.

    Spoil sport 🙄
I can confirm this works... 😂
I believe you should be able to do this with the rebuild feature if using a specific rule.

I have a question before purchasing this app. Is it possible to restrict based on birthday? For example, I have an NSFW group that users must be 18 or older to join. Is it possible to run a check via this app against a birthday?

it would be nice if it is possible to propose different groups according to the main group.
If you are a member here are the public groups that you can join.
If you are moderator, here are the public groups that you can integrate.
    ....

also that certain groups are only available by select box. it's this one or this one

Hey @GTServices, I'd love to use this but I'm still not sure if it'll work with 4.5. Would it just be a case of changing a config file value from 4.4 to 4.5 and giving it a go? If not, do you have any plans to update it? Cheers

Hey @GTServices, is this compatible with 4.5 at present? I'm very keen to purchase it and use it

I agree, it should be part of IPS.
For those unaware, Google Tag Manager requires code in HEAD and a noscript tag in BODY (immediately after the body tag).
Most big boards use Tag Manager. I've seen a lot of smaller boards using Tag Manager.
(Google Analytics is part of Tag Manager. If you have an Analytics account than you have access to Tag Manager.)
Tag Manager is the BETTER option as it provides admins with more tools without the need to add more code to the site.
eg. event tracking, conversions, remarketing, facebook pixel, etc
I use Tag Manager for a number of things.
It allows me to modify how a Bounce is counted in Analytics.
Analytics now counts a bounce if USER leaves the page quickly (less than 1 minute). If more than 1 minute it doesn't count as a bounce.
So instead of seeing bounce rates as high as 70% I see 10-29% bounce rates. This metric is now more useful to me.
    Why the change?
Because most Users land on a page from Google or some other channel just to read the content on the page. Once they finish reading - they EXIT.
It's only a problem if the content doesn't grab their attention. If they spend more than 1 minute on the page I know that they are actually reading (consuming information). This is a good thing. It tells me they are likely to come back.
Now, when I see a high bounce rate I know the contents of the page needs attention, shouldn't be promoted, etc.
eg. I use Bounce Rate to tell me if my homepage layout is working. At 10% Bounce rate with millions of sessions per week, I can say with confidence that it is.

@GTServices Will this app allow us to add a user to a group when they register?
I do not want users to select a group, I want to automatically add them to the group on registration.

Happy Hump Day my Invision Community fam!

    Invision Community Achievements:
We wanted to kick off this special post with a preview of Achievements. It's Invision Community's take on gamification with our powerful platform. It's something we're really excited to rollout this year (which does not = December 31st lol).
We don't want to give away too much about it yet, but feel free to weigh in/ask questions 🙂

    Fix dump:
Here's what we accomplished in the past week (new changes since last Wednesday's Hump Day post):
    - Fixed broken 3rd party ACP permissions on Cloud.
    - Added a new Spam Defense option to allow registration but require moderator approval of all new posts.
    - Fixed an issue where HTML logic of a page may be stored in the search index.
    - Fixed chunk uploading when using Amazon S3 with some S3-compatible providers.
    - Renewal invoice warning emails will now show tax included, if applicable.
    - Fixed an issue with Member Filters happening when members where filtered by subscriptions and purchases.
    - Fixed messenger link still displaying on profiles on mobile devices if the user does not have permission to access the messenger module.
    - Fixed an issue converting some types of SMF profile photos.
    - Fixed an issue where the width of the layout would stretch, caused by long strings of content.
    - Fixed an issue where Member Sync onEmailChange may be called before validation when changing email via validating screen.
    - Fixed a typo when flagging a member as a spammer.
    - Fixed an issue where the DeleteImageProxyFiles task would never finish or not update its progress appropriately .
    - Fixed an issue with the REST API where a GET request to records with a category parameter would result in a DB error.
    Important Method Changes:
    - Added a `$seperator` parameter to `\IPS\CustomField::displayValues` which can be used to define a custom seperator when displaying multiple values .
    - Updated method signature for `\IPS\Node\Model::getLastCommentTime()`.
    - Added a `$count` parameter to `\IPS\Content::definiteArticle/_definiteArticle()`. If an integer is passed, a pluralized phrase will be used, if available. You should add pluralized strings for any `__defart_*` strings you've already created. The key should be in the format `__defart_*_plural`.

    Invision Community Live Streams
We've also been discussing doing some live Q&As and webinars for you all to participate in. It would give you the opportunity to ask questions in a live setting and visibly see us respond. Does that sound like something you'd be interested in? Before we dive too far into that rabbit hole, we wanted to gauge your reaction and see if you'd like that. Please reply and let us know what you think and also what times would be good for you! 🙏

And in case you missed it...

It's done but I won't make it available today as planned.
It will be available end of week (March 20). This will allow me time to test the app.

In new version, you may want to consider adding the new NOFOLLOW options.
Leave it up to the admins to decide how to use NOFOLLOW.

The issue here is that Google will still go to those pages crawl and at some point index. This process takes away from indexing more important pages in a timely manner. (They will continue to revisit the page; Otherwise, comments would be ignored.)
This affects people with lots of pages especially if you just migrated to a new system or rebuild your sitemap. You want to help Google as much as you can. It benefits you the most.
(I removed my previous comment that was here as I believe it will just confuse more than help)
The goal is to get Google to index/rank your quality pages faster asap.
