OK thanks. I would really appreciate such a feature down the road.

Chris027 got a reaction from Eric BXL in 4.5: Introducing our updated default theme
A couple things come to mind.
1. My community is going to go crazy. In a bad way because it’s a change. Last time I adjusted the font it was like an atomic bomb hit the site.
2. I really hope these aren’t changes for the sake of changes. Moving the IP address seems like an unnecessary change just to make a change. I hope I’m wrong.
Love the software, but get frustrated with major changes because it’s hard to run a business and make future plans without any control. I could sell advertising in a space that suddenly disappears. Not fun.

Is it possible to limit which groups receive email advertising?
We sell subscriptions that give people ad-free browsing of the site, and I'd like to exclude this group from receiving ads via email.

"Quoting and reacting are two primary interactions for users, so they of course retain their position in the control bar."
As is reporting a post.
IMO there is enough hassle explaining to users how to do it now (basically hidden function; mouse over top right until you can actually see the link) but at least it's a one click operation, in the new theme, the drop down menu is at least prominent (although obscure to less techy people as a lot of our membership is) but turns it into a 2 click operation.
Personally would prefer it to be a simple link as per "Quote" link.

Are some of these things redundant? Is it necessary to see "Administrators" twice in the same post? I could be wrong, but if popular posts is based on the number of reactions, then isn't it redundant to list both the number of reactions and the fact that it's popular?
Also, I'd love the ability to hide the "Administrators" or whatever group the user is in. This creates division between our community members who are paying subscribers and those who aren't. I manually edit the theme to remove these items.

This will be possible with one line of css in 4.5 🙂

Agreed - we avoid making large changes to the frontend on the whole (save for new features, which necessitate updates by their nature). The downside of that of course is running the risk of appearing outdated, or not being able to employ newer techniques/technologies. It's a balance between competing concerns as always. 4.3 and 4.4 didn't have any substantial changes, so we feel 4.5 is the right time for a moderate refresh, saving a much bigger update for a future (major) version.

Thanks Rikki. I love the IPS platform and get nervous whenever big changes happen. I only ask that they are well though out and necessary.

Very "improved"...
OMG 😱 "elements having room to breathe" © Rikki 🤣😭
It should look like this:

Too much empty space. It looks like an abstract Dribbble-layout for a portfolio, not for real use.

I would really love to see popular comments in addition to or rather than things like popular days or top posters in this topic. What matters most to my community is finding the information that's most valuable and that's usually the comments that have the most reactions (thanks, like, heart, etc...) Popular days doesn't really mean much and neither does top posters in terms of finding the best information in my community.
Thanks for the update / improvement. The work is very much appreciated.

Hi Rikki - It looks like that's a single top post. It would be treat to display the top posts (plural) because there are often several.

An insider just told me we may be able to include a setting to control how many are shown 🎉
