  1. Thanks

    2 things I recommend trying:
Running the requirements checker that Randy mentioned above (https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/7046-invision-community-requirements-checker/) Disabling all third-party applications and plugins. If you're still having issues, there should be an error message presented from our software when attempting to access the ACP. If you're receiving just a blank page, you would need to consult your server error log.

    You can already.
Under "Content Type", click "Topics".   Once you do, a "Forums" dropdown will appear below that will let you pick the specific forums you want to search.

It would be tricky as RSS doesn't really have a provision for nested items. It would need to send each comment with a unique URL and ID, which would mean some sort of processing would be needed to nest them on the other side.

    You are awesome. Thanks again!

EDIT: unfortunately that's not quite what I'm looking for.
I basically just want to be able to make regular dropdown menus.
For example, I'd like to put all of the text justifications (left, right, center, fill) into one dropdown to save space.

@Makoto has done it once here https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/7738-editor-message-box/ Unfortunately abandoned.
You can download a copy from this review https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/7738-editor-message-box/?do=findReview&review=12508 to see how it is done.

Some kind of indicator that the session has timed out would be really nice.
Particularly because when you're working in the customize html and css templates, and you let it sit for a while as you look something up and then come back, it's easy to do a bunch of work in there while it's timed out, then click save to save your file and lose everything you just did.

Has anyone been able to successfully create dropdown menus for the CKEditor, using this plugin which is created and up kept by the CKEditor team? (Does that count as 3rd party?) And if so would you be willing to show me / us how it's done?

    WARNING
If you install the plugin provided in that link as is, it will break your editor causing all buttons to disappear. I believe it needs to be configured properly first.
If you do that, you can restore the toolbar to its default state and they will reappear, but any customization you've done to the editor will be gone.
It also has a dependency, which is the menubutton plugin, also created and up kept by the CKEditor team.

There are two ways about it. Disable a session timeout in ACP in constants.php:
// Disable ACP session timeout? 'DEV_DISABLE_ACP_SESSION_TIMEOUT' => FALSE, Or use Designer Mode to edit HTML in IDE for larger, more complex changes.

Yes, with forums generally waning in popularity, this would represent a chance to actually modernize.

If you are using a custom style for the editor, then you most likely need to update the icons_hidpi.png and icons.png files. They have a new icon for Stock Replies, which displaced some of the other icons.

I'm expecting you can change part in your Localization menu and use the 'translate' function as that's why I intend to you. You can find this in the Admin CP.
As to categories for Badges, I would welcome this for both the member view and admin view. You can get lost in the amount of badges when creating them! Seems straightforward and logical to do so 🙂

    Simple idea:
Wherever it says "Badges" (ie on the member profile it says Recent Badges) change "Badges" to "Awards", and then allow categories of Awards to be created by the admin. Example categories could be things like badges, trophies, medals, etc, or things like X related Awards, Y related Awards etc.
(To push it just a little to far, it would also be nice if awards had hovercards, or something comparable like a page.)

    Thoughts about the details:
On the admin cp, visually those would probably look like collapsable sections with titles (similar to the forum tree) each containing their respective awards in a vertical column just like they are now. That and the addition of a "create new award category" button would do it. Ok and maybe adding in section header category titles in the member profile's award(badge) display page.

The way it is now, all awards are essentially lumped into a single category called "badges", and when you're on a members profile looking at their badges page it doesn't take the addition of too many badges before it's sort of a confusing mess to look at. It feels to me like allowing admins the ability to categorize them, and thereby vary them beyond "badges", it would not only look better but thematically it would open more doors for user individuation.

You have to make the System app your default app, and then the Content Discovery module your default module within that app.
You can do this via System > Applications in the Admin Control Panel. Click the star next to System to make that your default module, and then open the dropdown to reveal the various modules within that app, clicking the star next to Content Discovery.

I feel compelled to reiterate that adding this functionality would not detract from or even change the existing functionality at all, in any way.
