MeMaBlue reacted to The Old Man in New cookie facilities do not show duration needed for clear and valid informed consent
Dear IPS,
Thank you for adding a Reject button to the cookie banner.
Please can improve the new cookie compliance functionality further to include the duration of the cookies, so that it is clearly stated in order to obtain valid consent?
Reasoning behind this:
Example Reference:Â https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/direct-marketing-and-electronic-communications/guide-to-pecr/guidance-on-the-use-of-cookies-and-similar-technologies/how-do-we-comply-with-the-cookie-rules/#comply4
Example reference:Â https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/direct-marketing-and-electronic-communications/guide-to-pecr/guidance-on-the-use-of-cookies-and-similar-technologies/what-are-the-rules-on-cookies-and-similar-technologies/#rules4
Secondly for users using a separate service such as CookieYes, the cookie link still shows and takes users to the IPS cookie page even though itâs being used. This is confusing to site users.
Thank you.

MeMaBlue reacted to The Old Man in New cookie option
It still shows the cookie link at the bottom though which if a visitor clicks takes them to the IPS cookie page. It would be good to be able to easily disable that or alter its destination.
Also can you include the duration of the cookies on the IPS cookie page, please?
Thank you!

We can probably work on the labelling, but I'm not keen on making it a high level item like that. It's not something most people will want to think about when they are on the site.

MeMaBlue reacted to Matt in Strengthening Community Trust with Privacy and PII Data Features
For now, we'll keep it so administrators must approve until we get a little more comfortable with the features. We wouldn't want large parts of an established community destroyed by content being de-attributed or removed without a final admin check.

MeMaBlue reacted to DawPi in (DP43) Grid View per Forums
Hello @MeMaBlue,
it looks like normal grid option - but not globally but per forum. đ So if you want to test it on mobile then enable Grid mode on your board, look through mobile device and you'll see how it would work.
Example, on PC:

Wouldn't it be preferable if this setting could just be applied to selected primary forums rather than all of them?

To recap:
To enable push notifications on iOS:
Ensure you are using iOS 16.4 or newer Save the site to your iPhone's home screen via the share icon Enable push notifications via the option at the bottom of the notifications options page Ensure you have set some notifications to "+ Push" Make sure you haven't disabled notifications via iOS Settings globally or for the app icon if you scroll down the settings list in iOS. -

I've actually re-enabled a lot of notifications and moved them exclusively to my phone now. I find myself coming back more when I'm out and about.

No, it's not cloud only.
You need to first add the website to your home screen for push notifications to be allowed.
It seems to be a webkit bug where the notification will only go to the correct URL if the web app is already open and in memory.

Can you tell if there are any plans on making the Courses app available for self-hosted installations? And also the Email Bounce Management for Sendgrid users?

The INNODB is something you need to change on your hosting side. You would need to speak to your hosting company to change your tables to be INNODB if you are unsure how to do this. The same would be for the tmp file issues. These are issues relating to hosting, and not related to the software.
Have you perhaps considered our cloud solution, as what you are using at the moment you appear to be struggling with?

I have been reading though this thread today. A nice little tool for checking if Cloudflare is working or not is the add-on Dr.Flare. It makes things easy to diagnose.Â

Sorry for the confusion here. I have gone through this with our developers, and they are indeed removed by design

MeMaBlue reacted to teraĂyte in Easiest way to switch all tables to InnoDB
Try using this query instead (replace DBNAME as needed):
SELECT CONCAT('ALTER TABLE ', TABLE_SCHEMA, '.', TABLE_NAME, ' ENGINE=InnoDB ROW_FORMAT=DYNAMIC;') FROM information_schema.TABLES WHERE TABLE_SCHEMA='DBNAME' AND ENGINE = 'MyISAM'; This query doesn't check the table type and also forces the tables to use the DYNAMIC row format (in case your server defaults to Compact).
Â
I always use it and once I run all the queries the ACP never complains about tables still being MyISAM.

This worked perfectly for me and admincp now showing no issues, thanks!
I'd mark your post as the solution but I dont seem to have the option to, maybe a mod/admin can do that when they see this.

Yes⌠that does happen when the server runs out of space. If they did not free up space in tmp though, it will not have fixed your problem.  Simply restarting MySQL wonât fix this.Â

These things vary a lot from server to server and based on the specific size of your community, but ideally you should not be having several gigabytes of temp tables stored on your disk. Ideally, you should also have more than a handful of gigabytes available in /tmp, but I don't see how much space you actually have configured for this mount point on your server in the screenshots above, just that it is completely full.
As noted above, if the tmp directory PHP uses to store uploads is not large enough, large file uploads can end up causing this to happen. But based purely off the screenshots we see here, it looks like MySQL may be more to blame. In order to confirm, we would need to know the total disk space available to /tmp and what files are actually taking up all of this space.
Again based on the screenshots above however, it looks like your server is also configured to use MyISAM instead of InnoDB. Generally, it's recommended you use InnoDB for your tables instead, as MyISAM has several performance and scalability pitfalls that InnoDB mitigates.
The best solution here would be to first make sure your server has enough memory to store your entire MySQL database, plus enough to run all existing services and an additional buffer window to spare for growth and disk caching, and then convert your databases to InnoDB with your MySQL configuration tuned accordingly for your servers specific needs.
All of this can be rather complicated and is unfortunately not something that can be easily guided through in a forum post. If you have a managed server, you could see if this is something your host can do for you.

I would just report to them that /tmp is full. Let them figure out the rest.Â
If it happens multiple times, they should be proactive in resizing the partition to meet the system needs. Itâs very possible this is just a one off problem. I would not do more unless you see this happening multiple times personally if it were me.Â

Look at the second and fourth lines. Those are 100 percent full.Â
Thatâs your problem. Â It canât write new files (the MYIEF file) into tmp because itâs already full.Â
You wonât be able to fix it from file manager. You typically would need to fix it from SSH as root or a privileged system user.Â
