  1. To muddy the waters…Marc. As previously Posted I ran the Patch fix and not long after that the orange warning message to run the fix reappeared. But there was no fix in the Support area. You responded to go to /admin/upgrade and finish running it there. I was just heading over to AdminCP to do that but noticed that the orange warning for the Patch has now disapeared from my home page and from the AdminCP-System-Support area so did not run the Upgrader. Does that mean I am all set?
  2. Support, I successfully applied the patch yesterday. Today I’m suddenly seeing the same (orange) warning message coming up about a Patch for 4.7.16. This time there is no fix on the Support page. Input?

  4. I just noticed a notice on my Board for a Patch. It says to go to System-Support and apply the Patch from top left box. Ive gone to AdminCP -System-Support and can’t for the life of me find said Patch box. Assistance please.
  5. I received a PM from a Member of my Board that he was suddenly getting a NOTICE about rejected emails from me or the Board. He wasn’t very specific but thought I was asking him to change his email address. I went to his membership data and saw that his email address was in red with a warning icon. When clicked a field opened saying something about this email bouncing off the Cloud Server enough times to block it. Or something to that effect. I should have screen shot that. I was then able to unblock it. I’ve been running this Board for 22 years and this Invision software for 8 years and have never encountered this before. Questions: Why exactly does this email blocking happen to certain email addresses? Is this a new security feature since the last software update? Once unblocked can I expect this particular email address to be blocked again in the future? Thanks in advance.
  6. How’s this going? I’m suddenly getting hit with spam registrations as well.
  7. I’ve been relatively lucky and I think my Q&A questions thwart most spam registrations. Although not completely. Occasionally a spammer slips in. So I change the questions/answers periodically. If a spammer sneaks in I have my Admin functions set for manual authorization. Since I require a few fields to be filled, like Interests, it’s relatively easy to see who is a spammer upon registration and I can delete that account immediately.
  8. Thank you. I was able to log in to AdminCP and finish the Upgrade. I’ll look around and see if all is well.
  9. Support, I attempted to upgrade my Board Software and it failed with an Error and is now stuck on a generic “Upgrade in Process” warning. I can’t access the Board nor AdminCP. Ive sent an email to Support and am waiting for a response. Thank You.
  10. My blood pressure goes up every time the blue or red announcement of an Upgrade suddenly appears on my Board. I’ve hated Software Upgrades since I bought my first desktop Mac way the hell back in the 80’s. Yeah, I’m that old. And during my career as a commercial artist/graphic designer… Software Upgrades were always a hand wringing process. So I have Software Upgrade PTSD. I’m reading about issues doing the auto Upgrade to 4.7.0 here on this Help Forum. How stable is the auto upgrade for someone who only utilizes the Forum app, does not use any third party plug ins, and is totally native to the IPB software…and…uses the IPB Cloud Hosting? Asking for a friend.
  11. My Board came back Online not long after I posted this Topic. Maybe an hour or so. I also did not have any notice of Maintenance going on in my AdminCP. Nor any email from IPB. When my Board went down with that error I went to this Community Forum and then saw the Maintenance warning, and then Posted this Topic. Not a huge set back or problem for me and my Forums. But if I had known about the scheduled Maintenance, and the possibility of issues, I probably would have Noted that on my Board to my Members and even taken if Offline until the Maintenance was completed. Regardless, with that said, I am impressed and appreciative with how the IPB team keeps the software and hosting up to date and secure.
  12. …with this error. Is this a result of the scheduled maintenance today? If so when will it be corrected? I use Cloud Hosting.
  13. I don’t see what the big deal is. If a Member wants their account to be deleted they simply contact me…the admin/mod. I can offer to delete all contact info and content or leave content authored as Guest. I can see issues arising if a disgruntled Member goes off half cocked, and deletes their account, including content thus rendering Topics out of context and gutted. I’ve found that the vast majority of Members that request the removal of their account are angry about something, and after a cool down period change their minds. What I could and would like to see native to the software is the option for a Member to be able to delete their account as an option turned on or off by the admin. Also that function could be be set for certain Groups. Even used as an extra Perk for a Donating Group for instance. My 2¢.
  14. As mentioned in my OP….Some Boards owners/admins/mods prefer and choose to stay within the confines of the native Software functionality, and not use third party plug ins. This seems like something IPB could build into the software without a load of hassle. I use an iPad for 98% of my Board administrating and moderating. Hovering doesn’t work or doesn’t work well on touch screen tablets or smart phones, in HTML or mobile.
  15. A large part of being able to manage a relatively busy Board is self policing by the Membership. When a Member clicks Report Post on problem Content they can either enter a Message or not. Regardless. I typically like to address their Reporting with a Thank You or a return Message. As is there is no automatic Messaging feature built into the Report Post function for the Member who reposts a Post, but you can click the offending Members name and access a Message function in drop down. As is you need to go to the Reporting Members Profile to Message or go to the Message function, type in their name etc. Being able to quickly Message the Offending Member and the Reporting Member seems to make sense. I just noticed this was mentioned recently in another Topic, with the only response being a third party plug in. Some of us prefer to stay native to the IPB software and functionality. Working this into an update doesn’t seem to be a huge hassle.
  16. I updated my Board software, and tested this issue by deleting an inactive Membership. This time all of that Members Topics and Posts were authored as “Guest” as they should be. I’ll assume the issue with a Members User Name being attached to “Guest” upon deletion was some sort of anomaly or glitch I guess.

  18. Question: My Board is 20 years old. After the last major IPB Update, the last 15 years of my Boards Topics were automatically Archived, which rendered them Locked and Unsearchable. This left just 5 years worth of live Topics that could be found in a Search. I understand the need to streamline in order to save data and space but this automatic Archive was egregious. If I was to go into my AdminCP and change that 5 years to say 10 years or even 15 years would the Topics within that time frame that are Archived be Unarchived and then Searchable? If yes, how long would it take? (I only have..gulp..7mbps speed) Should I take my Board Offline during this process? I ask because unarchiving a single Topic seems to tax the software and takes time. I don’t want to crash my Board. Should I do the Unarchiving in small 1 or 2 year batches? Question: I’ve had occasion in the past to delete Memberships for a variety of reasons. Generally I chose to keep the Members Content with the author to appear as “Guest”. Always worked and the Member showed up as Guest on all past Content. I recently deleted a Membership for let’s call him “Jim Jim”. I chose Options shown below. *But instead of “Guest” on all his past Topics and a Posts it shows “Guest Jim Jim” as author. Is this a glitch? Can I somehow remove the Members name? What should happen to the member's content after the member is deleted? Delete Hide Leave (I chose this) Attribution Continue to attribute to Jim Jim Anonymize attribution (I chose this) This will show content attributed to Guest and remove any stored IP addresses. Recommended when local privacy laws such as GDPR apply.
  19. I use an iPad Air with current OS almost exclusively. I’ll fool with my Board on my old iMac desktop and iPhone and see if I can reproduce it. It’s not life threatening or a constant occurrence. It’s just new since the last Upgrade. Thanks for looking into it.
  20. These are Banner Ad images Ive uploaded directly to AdminCP Advertisement function.
  21. I noticed Banner ads weren’t loading completely after the last Upgrade. See image. It’s random, not the same Banner Ad every time and not all the time. I did mention it to Support through an email and they thought my slow home internet speed may be the culprit. I only have a max of 7mbps at home. I’m not kidding…But I am at another location on wif fi with 120mbps and the same things happens randomly. I do not have any custom theme, but simply utilize the theme functions native to this software. This isn’t a huge deal, but if an advertiser sees this it may cause non-renewals etc. Thoughts?
  22. Lindy, I have been on the Ultra 100 User Plan for years. After I read this Topic I contacted your Support Team and asked them if I would need to change Plans and if so what Plan. I was told I needed to change to the Growth Plan. That would over double my Cloud Hosting monthly/yearly fees. I’m confused. Please let me know if I have to change or not. I don’t want my Board to be suspended. Feel free to email me at my contact email associated with my account.
